Pre-Christmas gift to myself

I was rescued by a beautiful four legged friend from a shelter in Logan, Utah in mid December. He is so gorgeous, smart and cuddly. He is one year old, still a puppy. Part Great Dane, bred with a lab, maybe? My daughter has sent me a DNA kit for him, so I can get some information. I just love him and we go exploring together!

I forgot to tell everyone! His name has always been Storm, but I call him Stormy. And as you can probably tell, he has one blue eye and one brown eye. Everywhere I take him people have to stop and tell us how beautiful he is. I think he’s getting a big head from all the love!

The funny thing is that the shelter told me that he was part healer, but all the groomers and the vet said that he was most likely the Great Dane! I was very surprised to hear that, as he is only a year old. Wondering if he could get much bigger?

All our furs are healers. Sometimes they are the ones who care more than anyone! I'm more of a cat person, but as far as dogs go, I like the big ones, too. The one we have is a Newfie! She's around 120#s.

His spots remind me of my Great Dane mix. Ours is mixed with a German Shorthaired Pointer. At a year old, I think yours should be petty close to his full height, but might put on more muscle/weight.

You are so lucky, congratulations on finding a best friend! We have had many Great Danes and Dane mixes and they are amazing, gentle and sweet dogs. He definitely looks like he has Dane in him and they generally keep growing until about 18 months or so. We have had males that weighed 120 to 190 lbs but they still think they are lap dogs and will back up and sit on your lap. Danes tend to lean on you and that is their way of giving you a hug. He is a beautiful dog and may your adventures be many and filled with joy!

Oh, thanks for the reply! Yes, he leans on me a lot!! And he just loves to sit on my lap and cuddle. Plus he likes to sleep as close to me as possible.

I just realized you are in Idaho, so am I. We are in Lenore, the central panhandle, about 2 1/2 hours south of Coeur d’Alene. Where are you located?

Good to know 😊 bit of a drive though. We have a 12 yr old male Dane/lab mix, a 1 1/2 yr old male Dane, and a 1 yr old female Dane. Our boys are both weighing around 120 lbs and our little girl is already 116 lbs and hasn’t grown into her feet yet. She probably has a fair amount of growing left to do.

Congrats new mama! What a beautiful boy! The DNA test will be interesting. When I rescued my little one from a shelter, I guessed her breed mix, but was surprised at the DNA results. All the best to you and your new fur baby! 🤗🐾🐾
