Visual Impairment/Low Vision/Blindness

I would love to create a virtual community (maybe over Zoom?) for people with MS who deal with low vision or blindness due to their MS. I would love to share techniques and resources that help people thrive! For example, I am learning JAWS to use a computer more effectively. I know I have so much more to learn from others and wou enjoy the chance to talk with others who experience low vision/blindnness.

No visual impairment for me, yet. Well other than old age 🀣

This sounds like a great idea!

Back in my early working years my company would setup systems designed by IBM for people with various impairments, including one for a woman that was completely blind. This was one of my favorite parts of my job. Plus, I learned so much from them. So much of that specialized technology is readily available today.

Good luck!

i have some major eye problems in my left eye ...i get a shot once a month in it but they say it isn't caused by my MS...it is like a lot of clouds blocking vision parts ...i don't see it until they look at my vision and ask me to say the letters that i can see ...so my vision is mainly my right eye ...hope you find out lots of things and ways to help prevent it ....love and much happiness..

That sounds like a very ambitious project. How would you reach your perspective audience? Zoom is good for people to listen to but without sight, they can't see each other or use the visual aspect of Zoom. Vision problems are just one of the numerous problems MS brings on to everyone who is lucky enough to have it. I know I would benifit learning about MS and vision problems because I know very little about it. Early on when I was diagnosed, I did have some vision problems that worried me quite a bit. I had severe double vision for a while. I later was told that was caused by my balance issues. Some monthes later, I had some issues with my sight having broken lines through it when I did too much. Knowledge is power So I would love if you would share what you've know and learn about eye issues withwith everyone in the chat room. Together we are stronger! Fancy59.
