Now I have a ramp and the sun is shining๐ I have just been to try it out. I am still shaking. I am simultaneously trying out my motorized wheelchair.
problems - the foot rests are set too high - this should be fixable
- I need more practice at steering it in reverse, it doesn't work like reversing a car. To go backwards and left it has to be steered right.๐ I guess the logic is you steer the way you want to face. Maybe this makes sense to non-car-drivers.
- In manoeuvring to open the door I knocked over some clothes-horses which fell into or do I mean out of, the doorway so I had to go fetch a grabber and manoeuvre to and fro repeatedly to drag them out of the way.
- I also knocked one foot off its pedal and had to get it back on by tilting the seat forward and backwards using the rung of a chair to lift it up high enough.
- There is still a skip/dumpster in my front drive which I can't get past
- My garden is in a dreadful state.
This is the first time I've been out of the house in months, and only the 3rd time in 1 1/2 years!

Yippee!! This is going to make a world of difference in your life. Yes, it takes quite some time to get used to the motorized wheelchairs. It would be much easier if we could just connect to them telepathically. "I wanted to go RIGHT, you idiot chair, not in circles to the left!" ๐ You'll have a bit more freedom now and can at the very least just get out of the house. I'm so happy for you.
The avatar is not mine, the system gave it to me automatically. Maybe somewhere it matched up Kit10 with kitten, even though I never meant it like that.
I have likened using both manual and electric wheelchairs to using tank controls, especially when reversing. I had my husband try it, on one of my good days, and it took a while for him to get his head around, despite him being an avid gamer in his spare time! ๐คฃ You will get better the more you use it ๐ซ it took me a couple of months to actually go the 20 mins (for walkers) to my town centre, because I was so scared! But now, I can go there by myself with no worries!
Congratulations. It takes some time to get used to but once you get it, you can ride everywhere. I have one and I able to ride the bus and train. Love it. ๐ฉ๐พโ๐ฆผ
