So I thought it has been 6 weeks since my bilateral mastectomy i need to do laundry running out of undies LOL, I need to clean the cat box and i need a shower maybe clean out the dishwasher need clean dishes. I go down stairs with a load of laundry put it in the washer clean the cat box come back up stairs, unload and load the dishwasher woohooo i am on a roll right, sit down and relax a bit i am getting tired. ok i dont hear the washer it must be done i will go down and put it in the dryer right so i go to the landing and listen nope dont hear the washer i take a step down one stair next thing i know my left leg gives out (this is my weak leg been having alot of problems with it lately) i start to fall i grab onto the ledge (i dont have a stair rail i have a ledge) my right foot is stuck and bending feels like in half, i cant move my left leg i cant hold on to the ledge anymore and down i go yes i tumbled down the stairs i hit my head and face on the bottom oh crap and yes i said the F word 3 times going down i lay there for a minute then i get up whew i can get up hurting alot go in and put the clothes in the dryer crawl upstairs go to the bathroom and cry and realize i need to tell someone i fell. i make my way back to the living room sit in the chair and call my boyfriend and HERE COME THE TEARS he comes over i cant put weight on my foot, this is saturday. So i go to the neurologist yesterday and he looks at my foot , asks if i am having any issues with the m.s.???? hmmm well I have no idea last feb. i had breast cancer this feb. i get assulted get my nose broke in 3 places, find out my car which has 50,000 miles on it needs a new engine cost $8500 WTF.!!!!! I bought it new it is 10 years old but i take very good care of it. then I find out in april i have cancer again go in for 3 more lumpectomies each one coming back beyond the margins finally on 7/11/2018 decide to do bilateral mastectomy i remember that day because it is free slurpee day at 7/11. Since I have started this cancer crap I have gained 100 lbs YES I SAID 100 POUNDS i know it is due to the cancer drugs. Then i take a fall down the stairs last Saturday. SO NO I DONT KNOW IF I AM HAVING ANY M.S. ISSUES LOL

So doctor sends me down to get xrays and ya it is not broke just bruised really bad stay off it for at least 2 weeks.

So doctor says i need a stair lift gives me a script for it and i come home and call medicaid they say the will cover what medicare doesnt cover i call medicare they say they dont cover it to call my united health care they say they dont cover it?????? i look on line and it says on MEDICARE.GOV they do cover it ????? i called my doc back and left a message.

Oh my goodness Sandra, you are one tough cookie. Sorry but I don’t know anything about your healthcare system, but listening to your story, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I am so sorry that you have had to endure what you have, breast cancer is not to be taken lightly and the drugs they give you play havoc with your body. Rest up as the doctor has told you, and recover properly, you were maybe trying to do too much too soon. Blessings Jimeka 🦋 🍫 🤗

I don't have an answer for you, unfortunately, but I surely hope you are doing better, and I hope you can get a stair lift installed. Is moving an option at all if the stair lift can't be done?

Let us know what you find out. I know we're all concerned about you.

I don’t know anything about Medicare yet. I have had my share of spectacular falls but nothing close to that. I’m glad your injuries were not worse! When I had a two-story house, I’d slip on the stairs regularly. I knew it was just a matter of time before I did something worse than bumps and bruises. The staircase was too narrow for a stair lift so I decided to move. I also didn’t want anything else to maintain. I love living in a one story place. It’s quite freeing.

I hope you heal soon!

sandras1 Long ago, when Al Capp's Lil' Abner cartoons were in the paper, he had a minor character Joe B$^#$@ !#, a sad little fellow who always had a black cloud overhead. Somehow your description embodies that troubled character. But, like Mammy Yokum, you just pull up your socks, set your jaw and go forward. You are amazing and so obviously capable, that you will find the solution to obtaining a stair lift. I wish I had something other than encouragement and support to offer but I'm guessing that there are answers to your question here and a way to resolve the issue. It makes pragmatic as well as economic sense to keep all of us safe and functional in our own homes!

Hidden give MSAA call and see if they can put you on the right path at least.

I would start calling the chair lift ppl 1st. You have a script. They want your business. Maybe start there?

Hang in there! 🤗💕

Oh my goodness! You have really been smacked with a lot! I am so very sorry. I do not have any advice, but I do have lots of love for fellow ms gals and guys. So here comes a giant hug and the hope you get everything figured out. Love, Kelly P.S. it is so very frightening to fall down the stairs, like slow motion, knowing how bad it is going to hurt!
