Last time I shared a post was in February 2022 and wanted to update ya'll. Here's the previous post: healthunlocked.com/mymsaa/p...
Well, wanted to share some exciting news from that previous tremulously sad post.. I'm pregnant! I'm 18 weeks! π We're having a... BOY ππππ
So far, I have felt great, minus some nausea in the first trimester but not as bad as what some women experience - totally right when they say pregnancy hormones put a safety bubble around you. I'm sure the third trimester will rear it's ugly head and make me swallow my words lol But at this point, I feel good. No issues or symptoms with my MS. I had an appt with my neurologist last week and I checked out just fine. I told her that they should put these hormones in a bottle and give to MS patients. She updated me that the other two girls who were getting off Gilenya at the same time as me in 2021 and who also miscarried are now mothers. So it was in fact Gilenya being the cause of our miscarriages. She informed me that at the neurology center they no longer prescribe Gilenya to women in their childbearing years after our cases. The risk of serious relapse getting off Gilenya is VERY high. She also said only 1 out of her 9 most recent patient pregnancies, had relapsed after giving birth. She relapsed 7 months postpartum. Anyways, she told me after I give birth to watch for MS signs and if I notice anything to schedule a steroid infusion right away. I would just have to "pump and dump" for two hours after being infused since I want to breastfeed.
Long story short, pregnant and doing well (feeling his movements in my belly now) and hope each of you are are doing as well as you're able given what has been thrown in our laps. Love to all β€οΈ

You know I'm not sure? I know they have a pregnancy registry if you get pregnant while on Gilenya so they can monitor you. I was off Gilenya for 5 months before trying to concieve and had lingering effects. I think the other two girls were off Gilenya for 3-4 months before trying. Gilenya states you only need 2 months for your system to be clear of Gilenya.. but everybody is different. I just think there hasn't been enough research with Gilenya and pregnancy nor do they know long time effects so we're lab mice for them.
