Still not diagnosed, but some changes

Hello everyone!!

So, I posted a week or so ago about my symptoms and such. One of those was terrible pain walking in my knees and quads. I have had this for quite some time (A year or so) and it just suddenly resolved. Just like that, I mean I still have some pain when I get up out of, or sit in a chair; but it is so much better!! The weakness in my legs is better, but definitely still there. I’m just so grateful for a break from the pain, did you all do some magic on me;);)

Anyway, my pain doctor ordered a lumbar puncture for Thursday, because I have metal in me that prohibits any MRI’s. I also see my internist next week for more tests. So, off we go.

Thank you for your support- if anyone has any thoughts on why this would happen, please post😉

Well, I hate to say it, but if you were having an MS exacerbation then the symptoms really could go away just like that. I don't remember if you're keeping a symptom diary or not. Add this to the list, how long it lasted and how it went away suddenly.

Good luck with your spinal tap! And keep us posted.

It's possible that it could have been a spinal issue e.g. pinched nerves etc due to misalignment of vertebrae which has now corrected itself. What have your doctors said might have been a cause of it? (Or have you not asked them?)

Could a spinal issue get you in the knees and thighs like that? It’s an interesting thought. I haven’t been to the internist yet. Hopefully we will get that stuff done on next week, Tuesday. I am pretty nervous as to what they will find. Time will tell😍

Since you can't have MRIs they could at least do x-rays of your back and knees to look for misalignment.

Yes, spinal issues can cause those sorts of problems. I have slightly different weakness and pain problems and altered sensation areas with left and right legs - and confirmed by MRI scans as being a spinal problem and not an MS problem.

Hi! I do believe some issue with your spine could affect your legs, but that's only coming from an ex-student nurse 🤷‍♀️ a biology teacher in college (in the UK, 16-18 y/o) had bouts of pain when her spine slipped every so often. I like to think of the spinal cord like an extension wire, and any pressure on it affects the "electricity" (signals) coming up and down it 😞 I hope you get your answers soon 🫂

Hey my friend, will be praying for you! Did Nora's mom mention a symptom journal? Excellent idea, I did that during my early years, as I went through some diagnosis confusion to say the least. Hang in there, most importantly the right doctor will get you feeling better!

Blessings and Peace

Just curious what metal you have that prevents MRI ? I have titanium cheeks, right eye socket titanium mesh, stainless steel staples in right side (20), internal pain pump and screw in foot and I have been able to do them. I have to have pump checked after each one to make sure it didn’t stop. Hopefully things work out 🙏👍🏼😉

Thank you everyone!! The reason I can’t have an MRI is that after my car accident 20 years ago they tried two different nerve stimulators to attempt to ease my muscle pain. They did not work at all. The one they put in the back of my head goes from a battery in my hip to the leads and paddles on the back of my skull. We talked to the stim manufacturer and they said I absolutely cannot have a head MRI.

I am at the point that I am ready to have surgery to take all that crap out of my body. The titanium in my neck is fine, no problem with MRI. I will talk to my pain doc this week to see if that’s a possibility. They have no function at all. They want to put a pain pump in anyway. I feel like a lab monkey, they just do whatever they want and tell me this next thing will make it better. It never does.

Thanks to you all!!!

Hang in there, GrmaK. You probably feel like a pin cushion already, and more needles on Thursday. Best wishes on your lumbar puncture. That was the definitive test for me.
