Just wondering I was just had a great experience going swimming with my family And I was wondering perhaps to look at some resources that may help me understand long-term living care and physical therapy with the desire for a quick or water therapy that can be very helpful with MS. When I say going swimming I really meant a pool that had the tools for someone in a wheelchair. I guess it’s obvious that your insurance and what’s available nearby is really the answer. take it very complicated understanding the regulations for physical therapy in long-term care.

I had some hydrotherapy about a year ago while I was at a rehab centre to recover from time in intensive care. It wasn't as helpful as I expected because the water and the air above it were very warm, about body temperature, and 20 minutes left me wiped out. Also it wasn't very deep, only about waist deep, so when I stood up most of my body was out of the water and trying to fall over, while my legs were trying to float upwards, which felt very precarious. Deeper water, about chest deep, would have felt safer.
Being hoisted in and out of the pool was undignified. but so was the ducking-stool-like contraption at the local swimming pool where I went for aqua aerobics 20 years ago while getting over a broken leg and walking with crutches. But hey, undignified is tolerable.
The water there was deeper, and it felt great to be able to walk without crutches, but cold enough to leave me chilled.
That's my experience, don't let me put you off, though. But I would suggest you ask about water temperature if it's likely to be an issue for you.
I think that would be a great idea! My Dr. is always telling me that swimming is one of the best exercises for people with MS. I just don’t love swimming 🤦♀️
Wishing you all the best ❤️
Thanks for sharing your swim story! We here at MSAA understand that traditional land-based activities may not always work for someone with MS and that aquatic therapy or exercising in a pool can create a more ideal environment.

are you in the states? if so, a friend of mine sent me something that might help. there are places that require a certain level below income standards. i hope it helps. you can look for places according to state, county, city. it also has areas for disability. i looked at 2 states and found quite a few with income-based assisted living for seniors and/or people with disabilities. these places allow pets and offer various therapies.
