Hello,

I am on here to support my husband who has had MS six years.

Thank You all for your post because it helps me understand his needs more.

Question: has anyone had a stem cell procedure or know someone who has? Was trying to get some info and feedback on it.

God Bless all of you!

Welcome! We have 3 members that I'm aware of who have had HSCT. There are a few groups on Facebook for people who have had or are considering this. There's also a few YouTube videos I've watched of people's journeys, very interesting! GL!

Thank You for responding, I will reach out to the members. I hope it is ok to stay on this website as a caretaker. (wife, helper) I learn so much from listening to comments and post. I have become much more patient as I continue to learn about MS.

Of course, we have many who are spouses or parents of people with MS. There are many old posts here about specific issues and medications, and you can use the search function to find many topics. The MSAA website has a lot of information and you can sign up for their magazine.

It's really nice to see a spouse that wants to know more so they can understand & help. Most of us feel alone in a room full of people because they don't understand. Thanks for being here.

Hi, RitanandMike, This is a course that might help you both expand your MS knowledge. Many of us here have taken it and can recommend it. It contains short explanations, good graphics and videos, as well as interview with MSers. It is open to anyone interested in learning more about MS. Perhaps you could take it together, as I recall, it's only an hour a week at the best time for you. The information below is what the University of Tasmania sends out to those who've taken the course.

The next Understanding Multiple Sclerosis (MS) free online course starts on March 14th. Over 28,000 people from more than 130 countries have taken part in the course, but we need your help to spread the word so we can reach as many people as possible. You can share our posts on Facebook MS MOOC FB page and tell your friends, family and colleagues about Understanding MS. It's also the perfect time to refresh your knowledge of MS, join in our forum discussions and test your skills with our quizzes. We'd love to have you join us in the course again.

Did you know?

On average, course participants improve their MS knowledge by 25% at course completion, and 63% of participants reported applying information from the course in their everyday lives by the time they had completed it. This may be why almost all (97%) said they would recommend it to someone else.

SPREAD THE WORD

How you can help:

-If you know someone who might be interested, please encourage them to sign up at ms.mooc.utas.edu.au/landing.... Alternatively, you can forward them this email.

- You can print this poster and display it in your workplace or on your local community noticeboard, or reply to this email if you would like us to send you some printed copies..

- Visit the Understanding Multiple Sclerosis – MS Facebook page at facebook.com/UnderstandingM... and share our post to ‘enrol now’ with your networks.

No I don't know anyone that has had it done but I know people with cancer who had it done.It is a very painful and in my mind a vulnerable procedure. It is what I think to be a cure for MS. I have heard many people who think the same and insurance turns the procedure down.

I think we are on the verge of ways to cure MS but the insurance companies are holding the researchers back.

I hope this helps you understand the procedure.

Good luck to you and your husband.
