This might be controversial but I think the day after thanksgiving is the first day to decorate. This year it was before halloween. what is that?
I am with Sandy. We always decorated the day after Thanksgiving!
That's when I would usually do it mΓ Amore55 π€£π€ππ
How are you doing, Jes?
I'm taking it day by day, bout all I can do right now. Have to say I don't care for it tho!π How are you doing? π€ππ
Not I.
I really don't do much of that.Sometimes , if we think of it, Christmas lights & the little tree my mom forced on me.
She decorated early & that's what cured me of it.
π
Do you leave your Christmas lights on all year, rather than waste energy taking them down?
Thanksgiving will be early for me, but we will have lights outside next week.
The Lil ones will be soooo excited this year kdali π π€ππ
I'm just excited this year... Last year suuuuuccccked! Sssooooo bad!!! I'm going to see my grandbabies!!ππ I just miss them so much πThe neighbors have their lights up, so I'm washing windows and putting those up today!ππ€£πβπ¦π€ππ
Hubby and I went to a Christmas bazaar to our favorite booth. He bought several more items, even though our attic will result in a "Christmas only" estate sale when we die, probably doubling the value of our estate. He put them out immediately, stating that it didn't make sense to put them in the attic when Christmas is only a few weeks away. I call him "Clark Griswold." We've already watched 3 Christmas movies.
December 15th is soon enough. My daughter has a birthday at the beginning of December so we were never allowed until we took her birthday cards down. She will be 34 next, so itβs stuck as the rule. π€
My birthday π is the 15th. also and we didnβt due a tree till after that. Outside lights went up after thanksgiving day as you never know what the weather will be. πΎπΎ
I just turned on our strung inside Icicle lights that stay up all year.
Hey, it isn't even Thanksgiving yet, but neighbors down the road have their lights up, candy striped the posts on their porch, and have the inflatable Santa and Snowman in their yard. Me? Haven't done anything except my Christmas shopping since U.S. mail is still slow and everything must be mailed or bought on line and delivered one way or another.
Our family tradition is I keep all the kids on Black Friday while the crazy sisters go shopping. The kids and I decorate for Christmas, bake and watch Christmas movies.
Black Friday? I went to one of those... Never ever again π i would stay home with you! It sounds much nicer!ππ€ππ
My wife has. She enjoys Christmas decorations and music.
I haven't but it doesn't bother me if others put theirs up early. I also don't mind Christmas music playing before Thanksgiving either. But I have always been easy going so it takes a lot to get me worked up. I figure if they are really that into Christmas go for it, it doesn't interfere with anything I am doing π Plus I haven't had the energy or motivation to decorate my house so seeing others is nice.Be on the look out for Valentine's day stuff in stores no later than Jan 2 π€£
After reading all the comments, Iβm a little scared to post this.π¬Iβm a lover of Christmas so nothing pertaining to Christmas is ever too early for me. We have started our decorating because we put lights on almost everything outside and it takes a while. So we start early and do what we can, whenever we can. Time passes by so quickly and thereβs so much work that goes into decorating, we start any time after Halloween. We get a real tree every year so we donβt get it until the places start selling them. Theyβre always fresh cut Fraser firs so as soon as the stores have them, we buy ours and go ahead and get it in water. I LOVE Christmas! For many reasons. And I want to be able to enjoy all my decorations for as long as I can. Entirely too much work for only a couple weeks.
Please don't ever be scared to post here!π I love Christmas to! You will have to post a pic of your lights for us!!! I love real trees! But now I have a realistic fake one π . I do have pine trees that I get branches from tho! Love the smell!π²ππ€ππ
Not. For many years we did nothing and that was fine with me. Finally my husband said he wanted a little tree. (We'd given our big one to our daughter.) So I said, that's fine but you're doing the work. So he got a 3 or 4 foot tree that sits on a table. Once time is over he covers it in plastic and takes it to the basement so he doesn't have to take off the lights. The magic is gone for me and I'm a scrooge.
Last year before Thanksgiving I put an artificial tree in my garden. A friend was getting rid of it so I brought it home. My husband hooked up electricity to it so I could put lights on it. I didn't decorate it other than lights. My husband thought I was nuts putting an artificial tree in a garden that sits next to the national forest. Every one that came to hour house that year loved my artificial tree! I'm doing it again this year & I adding wreaths on the banisters of our handicap ramp. This will all be after Thanksgiving as I am a believer that Christmas has it's own season & should not infringe on the other holidays.
i am still working on what to make for the kids for Christmas ....
after the children and grands are grown, decorating got smaller and smaller now have not 4ft,or 3ft.tree i have a 2 ft lighted tree, my nativity, and grinch on the doorπ
