Good morning to all of “YOU”, my ms family. As always I hope that “YOU” had a good nights sleep. At least better than mine. I do know better, but last night I so wanted hot chocolate. I knew it would keep me awake, but I wanted it. The last time I looked at the clock it was 3 something AM and I was awake. I wake up every day at 555 am like clockwork. It is medicine time and I will not put tablets beside my bed. Far too much of a choking risk for me. So my hot chocolate craving led to not much sleep.

So, I had an action then the reaction. Nothing to do with ms, just my own stupidity. I was told long ago at an ms conference that not everything that will happen to me is because of ms. Do not let a Doctor or assume that something is because “oh you have ms so..” Let saying that “YOU” have ms be the second or third thing out of your mouth because it might NOT be ms. Let the Doctor look for what your problem might be, not just brush “YOU” off and tell “YOU” that it is “ms there is nothing we can do take another pill.”

ADVOCATE for yourself, do not let ms be the catchall for what ails “YOU”. Take a trusted family member\friend into the Doctors office with “YOU” have them back “YOU” up asking why. Pretend they are ignorant, ask questions. Of course, tell them what “YOU” want to be asked. Just because “YOU” have been diagnosed with ms, does not mean that answers should not be given, “YOU” are after all paying for the appointment. SPEAK UP, have things explained to your understanding, ask questions. Listen to the answers.

Things that happen to “YOU” may not be ms, it might be the Krispy Kreme doughnut diet that “YOU” have been following. Remember and do look for answers to your health issues. It ‘MAY” be ms, it “MIGHT NOT BE”. Learn, do not assume.

Having said all that, have a really good day today, exercise, stop eating so many doughnuts and take your Disease-Modifying Therapy (DMT). Note I did not say stop eating doughnuts, just one or two less maybe.

Royce (your ms writer and brother)

oh yes, have a great day as well.

I have to ask the "dumb question" to my dr.. I have diabetes and ms.. and others .. but the question always comes down to "is it diabetes related or ms related" such as in my neuropathy.. eye problems... things like that.. and it will involve many more tests, looking at blood sugar levels.............. too many to mention here.. but I want to know..

But let me tell you all, that there are no "dumb questions"! If it is something that is confusing to you make them tell you till you understand..... it is your body.. it's where you live..

Keep asking.. until you get your answers!

Love and encouragement to all,

MsBoo

Hi Royce I learned back when my MS was Dx 'everything is NOT MS' so I have always asked what does that mean & have gotten some strange answers. My Asthma was first then MS few years later diabetes popped up as a possible. So I asked the Dr. I read that Diabetes has this, this & this, MS has this, this & this using my fingers put them together they were the same type of symptoms told him to tell me which were which? That was june 2003 he ordered the testing I also told him my mother had been insulin dependent diabetic & my father was a type 2 & I had an older brother who was type 2. I lol because they were all in their 4o's when Dx I was 53! Kinda of stupid but that's me!

I agree, we are missing something here, but it is beyond me. At the moment it just is. I am type 2 as well.
