IS IT WORTH PAYING FOR NEUROLOGIST APPT IN UK

I have had several falls and cannot get up unaided.

I need help dressing and showering and getting up

from chairs.

I can only walk short distances without getting tired.

I was referred by my GP to Cardiology and Neurology

in January 2021.

I have had cardio tests and the Cardiologist is certain

it is a Neurology condition.

My Neurology appointment in June was cancelled and

is now in July.

Is it worth going private to see a Neurologist ? The

cost is about £300?

I could afford this but tests such as MRI scans are

expensive privately. Varies on how many areas are

scanned.

Has anyone gone down this route?

Any advice welcome

I’m not in theUK I’m in the US but I would say yes they could help get you caretaker and find out what’s going on.

Contact your MS Society they should have a fund to help pay for the mri like they do here in the US

If I was you I would wait and see your neurologist in July and see if they instigate the mri. If you are still not satisfied then I would go private. Blessings Jimeka

Thanks for replies. The earliest private appointment I could get was late September.So I will wait and hope July NHS appointment is not cancelled

i always have come to the conclusion patient heal thyself,but you will have to have an mri and a spinial tap but please go see neuro.

i have gotten the most answers from the MS specialist that i go to ...hopefully your doctor is had lots of studies in MS and if so they will be able to help you with getting help with lots of the problems that you are having at least here they do ...my MRI was paid for in the beginning by MS society ...don't know if you have that there ...i also have insurance...hope you do but if not can get some help from the MS society if you have that organization ...sure hope so for they are great ....good luck ..sorry for all of the problems...love and more happiness...take care and stay safe...
