My face vs. the concrete driveway...guess who won?

Not the way I planned on ending a nice Mother’s Day. I considered posting a picture-but it’s EXTRA gross. Went to urgent care this morning. Negative head and face CTs. Infected so they gave me a shot of antibiotics in the butt😂 & a prescription for more antibiotics. On the bright side-I was successful in cutting the tree root that was sticking out of the ground in the middle of my hostas.🤗 PS-It’s a good thing I dropped the clippers when my vertigo kicked & made me fall :-)

Glad your scans were clear. My dr's office will get me with the antibiotic shot in the butt and oral. Hope you feel better soon and good thing you didn't have the clippers when your vertigo hit.

Thx:) The shot helped...I’ll spare you the details... other than saying everything is draining.🤗It’s scary though to have cellulitis that close to my eye. So glad I went in so quickly to get on antibiotics. The last time I had cellulitis it turned into a staff infection. definitely don’t need that on my face.

Definitely was smart to go when you did!

I loved your response! I did ask for help 3-4 days prior but it hadn’t gotten done on my timeframe🤗 We sound a lot alike - I did know better - but I got the root out like I knew I could! The injury is just a setback to finishing my hosta garden the way I want it “this” year. Oh well😂

Hi Kris, I am so sorry your Mother’s Day ended up disastrous. My hubby gets cellulitis in his legs but to have it on your face, it must be painful. Hope the antibiotics click in soon. Have the girls played anymore games recently? 🤗

Hi. I’ve had cellulitis in my leg-which turned into a staph Infection years ago. It’s not like I can soak my face in Epsom salts-but I wish I could!🤗 I’m thinking this one is staph also-swelling is worsening & getting blister-like pockets today. Yes the girls continue to bowl (& Dan). Hailey bowled on FS1 in February & Hannah on ESPN 2 weeks later. Hannah won NAIA Women’s Conference Bowler the Year. Kalli is better than both of her older sisters & Dan keeps winning also. He’s coaching a bowler on the National Australia Team - all while being in MN....he doesn’t get much sleep🤗 Another bowler he’s been coaching for 6 years (and who dated Hannah for a year-her very 1st boyfriend:) Jordan Monnens will be bowling the INTERCOLLEGIATE SINGLE CHAMPIONSHIP this Saturday on CBS Sports. It’s been a very successful year. I miss talking with you-sorry it’s been so long:-) -Kris PS-Most importantly...how are your grandkids?🤗

Wow, it’s good to hear that they are all doing so well and Dan sounds as though his coaching is a success. I do hope your face heals well and quick, and that you don’t scar from your fall. Harry my eldest grandson just got his report card for the year. He has done so well, he achieved the highest award in all 16 subjects, he really enjoys learning, he will be 13 soon. Charlie is 7, and very mischievous, he is the entire opposite to Harry. He hates school, but he loves soccer. He scored his first hat trick on Saturday. He is very athletic and loves sports. My youngest son just got married at the weekend. Because of the pandemic they were only allowed to invite 15, so William, who is 4, was his best man, and his daughter Mia, who is 3 was the flower girl/ bridesmaid. My son and his now wife have been together 14 years, he will be 30 this year. I will add a photo of them. You take care, blessings Jimeka

Hey kris1973 I can relate!! Strangely enough, I also ended my Mother’s Day by falling on my driveway. Luckily I fell onto my well-padded behind, and not my face. Also, it was lovely that it was all captured on our home security cam... The fam loved it. I would have included the spectacular video of my (un)graceful fall here, but I could only upload a photo. So, witness my greatness in this still-shot...

I now have a mangled right elbow and a deeply lacerated big toe. (Who knew neglected driveways were so sharp!?)

*sigh* This stuff is just my new MS standard. Just when you think you’re fit enough to drag a mattress out of a van.

Ooooo ouch! Having bitten concrete myself, I totally sympathize! Fortunately, in my case, I only wound up with a bruise above my upper lip which looked like a mustache. Hope those antibiotics work quick for you!

Glad you weren't terribly hurt. I have taken a couple of face dives into the ground. I had to go to the ER with the last one. I wasn't pretty either. I have 2 scars on my face as a souvenir!

kris1973 in reply tohairbrain4

I probably will have at least 1 big one under my eye where the main infection is the worst. The rest of my face will hopefully heal better.

I (hope to continue) wearing my battle scars with a fun twist. I already have this one figured out...there is a reason I won’t get tattoos with the girls...bc I gave myself a better, more original one on Mother’s Day🤗

Oh, bless your heart! Several years ago I fell face first in to my bathroom door jam and it was painful. Huge egg on the side of my face and a black eye. Just yesterday, my black lab was her overly excited self and rammed right into my legs and laid me out backwards, flat on my back. I was on the grass so no visible injuries but it was such a jolt that it gave me an instantaneous headache. A little soreness throughout my body but I seem to be fine today. I hope you recover completely and sooner than later.
