How Habits Can Transform Your Life

BeHealthyNow profile image

I've developed some bad habits during the lockdown, less exercise, more cookies. So, I decided to research and write an article on how to develop healthy habits and how they can improve well-being. Meanwhile, I've begun riding my recumbent bike again and I'm replacing some meals with smoothies. If interested in habit-change and how it can affect your life you can find my blog link in my bio. πŸ™‚ Meanwhile, how are you managing lock-down? Have you developed healthy habits or let some slack off like me?

I'm glad you found it helpful! That resource list gets updated on my website. Not too different at the moment though.

I am interested in Being healthy now. I also started having smoothies. Surprised how much better i feel. Sorry I got rid of that exercise equipment years ago. Who knew the gym would be dangerous?

Right? When I do smoothies I have way more energy and don't feel bloated or anything. I use JJ Virgins Paleo shake with bone broth and collagen. I swear I have less pain when I do it regularly twice a day.

No shame! The key to changing a habit if you want to is to start to take small steps in the direction you want to go. Don't be hard on yourself, none of us are perfect.

I miss personal contact and hugs. But there are several things that have changed for the positive for me. I now get dressed every day (after listening to Dr Phil & Dr. Oz.)

I do not listen to regular news on TV or radio or social media. Dr. Fauci is one person whose news I listen to.

I have used sewing skills (no matter how slow) to make masks for first responders and to keep myself busy. Reading more books, serious & entertaining.

A lot of my habits have gained improvement. Since doing yoga and tai chi. really helps to manage my pain, I used Mindset's free Facebook classes Mon - Fri. Since they have reopened Mindset, those of us with MS have a special Price for an app which allows the continuation of those classes. Mindset Yoga and Adaptive Exercise is based in Fort Worth, TX, for those of you who want more info.

The whole world seems like it has gone crazy, but adapting and overcoming obstacles (with God's help) has improved for me. So, I really have a lot to be thankful for. A new coping skill is that when I feel really negative and down, I begin to be thankful to God for little things, like waking up in the morning, still breathing. I even thank Him for my dog, my bed, that there's a roof over my head, my husband. When I look around me there are many things to be thankful for.

We noticed we were judging and griping about others - they don't wear masks correctly, etc, so we've decided to try to catch ourselves and nip that negativity in the bud.

I make mistakes - have gained a few pounds, sometimes have binged on Netflix, but for the most part, this has caused me to reexamine my life.

I will be SO glad when we are no longer fearful of covid, but for the time being we must all "muck through" together.

Wow! It seems you have been so productive during lockdown! I've stopped watching the news too. It's depressing and I feel no longer just the news- alot of opinion and drama instead. It was causing too much anxiety.. I never heard of Mindset exercise classes! I'll have to look at that. I've been searching for a beginner tsi chi online. Thanks πŸ™‚ That's awesome that you used your skills to make masks πŸ’œ

Similar here where I live. I try to go out when it's sunny but I have my recumbent bikes for the bad weather days.
