Sleeping troubles yet again

I got quite a few good months of sleep and suddenly I am having multiple hypnic jerks each night. Last night I had 7 and was up until 4 am with them.

I have never had so many in one night. Very strange. Not really sure what to do about them other than complain, so sorry for my complaint.

Hi BumbleBeeBumble😊Do you have an MS neurologist? If so you ,should most definitely, get a hold of your Dr.

Get something for sleep,

I have a neurologist down at U of M. He doesn't specialize in MS but he send his MS cases to his in house MS clinic.

There isn't just one thing that can contribute to those hypnic jerks. I used to have them all the time. Now I only have them periodically & it's usually if I have been more physically active than usual, mentally and/or physically stressed or if I drink regular tea too close to bedtime as caffeine can contribute to them. I kept a journal when I was having so much trouble & it showed my neuro my daily habits that contributed to the problem. I also have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine which also helps alleviate the spasms because I am getting a better night's sleep. Lack of sleep can also cause hypnic jerks. Also, make sure you are fully hydrated every day. At least 64 oz of water is recommended. I don't always count just water, juices, caffeine-free teas, & caffeine-free sodas can count for approximately 8 oz.

So funny you mentioned tea because my husband bought some iced tea the same day these started and I drank a cup around 7pm. I probably should not have since my gastritis is flaring.
