Sleeping

Does anyo.ine have a good suggestion for a med or otc pill to help me sleep thru the night without needing to urinate? I am using catheters 3x daily including just before bed, but I still need to get up at least once in the early morning hours. I am also taking Solifenacin 10mg in the evening.

Good luck finding such a medication! Myrbetriq "helps", but I still have to get up during the night. I have found that limiting my water/liquid/whatever after 6 pm helps too.

Hi. Thanks for sharing your story.

I’d like to add or expand here about fluid intake.

I’ve just stopped the solifenacin after only a few weeks as I’ve developed breathing issues and hot clammy forehead

I was still getting up 3-4 times a night which was an improvement on 6-7 times

My Urology Consultant has insisted I reduce my fluid intake.

I was talking 3 cups of tea and 2 small black coffees.

The last fluid being 3.00 pm other than water for tablets.

If you can stop drinking that contains Caffeine it helps tremendously.

Drink plain water not any cokes / cola’s etc.

It does help.

Me too Molly, but occasionally I will hit it just right and actually be amazed because I didn't get up to go during the night.. it's truly been life-changing during the day though helping me get to the bathroom more often without big troubles

Good luck if you find one, please let us all know. I find that doing your best to train your bladder is hard but best. No liquid after 8pm, urinate before bed, wake up once to pee a few hours later then zzquil to sleep for next 6 hours. Wake every day at same time, very limited napping during day. Drink around 8 cups of liquid every day. Hope this helps a little.

I have tried all your suggestions except ZZquil with no luck. I use a catheter just before bed to empty my bladdr as much as possible. The one thing that has helped at times is a glass of wine before bedtime. Maybe it puts my bladder to sleep also. I don't want to make this a habit and turn into what my wife would call a wino.

Zzzquil helps me to a certain extent. I'll sleep for up to 2 hours, be awake for an hour or two, and then sleep soundly for the rest of the night. Walmart (Equate brand) has a variation that works the same but costs less. No matter what I've tried, I'm up at least once to pee on most nights. I refuse to blame my heavy coffee habit. 😜

I forgot one other thing that has helped some. That is Advil PM. I don't like using it regularly because I'm already taking so many pills.

I know this is an old thread, and you've gotten some good responses here. I just wanted to comment on the Advil PM. Benadryl has the same active ingredient, without the Advil part (which can be hard on your stomach and your kidneys). So if you're taking it just for sleep (rather than pain), you might be better off with Bendryl.
