I am down here in south Texas. We don’t do snow and single digit temperatures. No power since Sunday night which has meant no heat; no cooking; no NOTHING. it’s too dang cold; I can’t drive as all roads are closed and even if I could, as of yesterday my car will not start. My entire city has shut down.
Meanwhile, the cold makes my muscles tense up so I have been locked up for 24 hours now with no end in site.
Ok... I’m done venting

It is a natural disaster compounded by human error for the millions of your fellow Texans. I am so sorry and hope your power returns ASAP. Those of us who live in states that rarely experience winter's fury know all too well what happens when the power fails for an extended period. Virginia didn't have the disaster experienced by Texas, but just a winter storm that brought snow and freezing rain. The freezing rain brought down so many trees that fell across the power lines at a time when roads were impassable because of ice and snow. The state has equipment to keep primary roads open but the rest of the roads are often never plowed. On my 3 mile long road, a farmer with his big green tractor plowed the road clear (bless his heart), My 84 year old friend who lives alone was without power for three days this past weekend. This meant no heat, no cooking, no bathing and in her old 1920 era farmhouse, indoor temperatures matching those outside. She finally found a hotel room 45 miles away in an area that had power....but we're not in Texas. I hope you stay safe and well in this crisis.
