On what you know that has to be done, but really based on energy levels?

Like, yesterday I had to shovel the *#@$ driveway. ( Me and that snowplow driver is gonna have words!!) So, after that, light cleaning and no shower.. way to much effort! Today, shower, dishes, laundry on an on...

Do you do this???

Or is it me?πŸ€”

I write a "To do" list but whether it gets done is dictated by how I feel or if I remember where I put the list.

I often email myself then ignore it because of the bossy tone of those lists.

There's one in the inbox right now.

I wish it said, Go get yourself a donut!

There is a down side to that though cuz there would be another one that would say "now exercise 20 minutes to burn off that donut!" That would just make you mad all over again. πŸ˜‚

I've been mad about that since August.

To say I've been slacking is the understatement of the year.

I make a list (because I WILL forget) then do the items on it when/if I can. Luckily, shoveling snow isn’t on it.🀣

I put notes πŸ“ in my phone as I think πŸ€” of things. Might not be in order of completion but I have it there to remind me. we use to have this problem also ...but i called the office of the road district about told them all he has to do is to turn the blade so it doesn't block the driveway ...at first not knowing what i was talking about but i guess enough also called ...they said he doesn't have time to clean out our driveway and i said it isn't that it is that he blocks our driveway ...can't be out there shoving for i am disabled ...could get hurt really bad if i had to be out there shoving ...hope you can get something done ...we have a tractor but that isn't the idea it is his job to clean the road not block parts of it ....good luck ...

Jesmcd2 profile image

That's a really good idea! I'm going to see who does it in our town, and find out if my dad knows them.. I can get a citation for asking for stuff like that. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ πŸ˜”πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ

Smallllll townnnnnnnn... My friend complained about the house that burnt up. It had started to smell. The next week she got a citation, for the tree branches being to low. πŸ˜’ πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ

wow ...i know you have to keep them from getting on the electic wires for afraid of the chance of starting a fire ...we live in the boons and have had our trees knock out the electicity for we had some strong winds ...one time we were trying to take one done but a wind took it done and took the wires and the lady at the company we get our electicity from try to say they would charge us for not keeping the limbs from the wires but she found out she couldn't for it wasn't our fault ...i don't know about your company but i would try to get maybe a contract that shows what everyone it liable for ...it is scary for it can cost lots of money ...i also remind them we both are disable and with my husband is a vet and 100% disable it really helps to so remind them you are disabled and can't do lots of things plus i bet you could call MS society and they could also help...good luck ....keep on keeping on ...loads of love and much happiness

Hi Jes, i know what you mean. I have a pile of bills to write, hopefully tomorrow. A shower takes a huge amount of energy: undress. in. wash. out. dry. dress again. I do like to keep lists. One on my computer and one on the fridge for groceries. I love crossing things off my list. But now I realize I can't do it all on one day. Thank you MS for making me slow down.

I always have a project to do in case I'm feeling really ambitious, other than that normal life drains all I have. AS far as your driveway goes, make your favorite neighbor a plate of brownies, bend their ear a little, and hope for some old fashioned kindness.

Just an after thought, in MIchigan students have to do community service in order to graduate. Maybe something can be worked out that way.

I have lists to organize my notes, and still need to organize my computer post-it drop files, to be filed later. Maybe, the key is to simply forget???? Oh yeah, prioritizing your energy...I've had several devices over the years that did just that. One was for my summer home (camper in the woods), there you always need to manage, as the electrical in those tin cans are only so much. And the plumbing... You learn to manage.

Energy management can be learned by living in a tin can (travel trailer) in the middle of the woods. Okay, it was just for recreation, but live saving recreation, escape from the hustle and bustle of work servicing one of the world's busiest cities, and then some. Ahh....relax...breath....and don't turn that on!!! IT WILL BLOW THE BREAKER WHEN THE XYZ IS ON! Breath deep. If you have to go outside to reset the breaker, life will go on. Life learned by camping!

Now, it snowed. Okay, that means shoveling. No biggie. Is it a shovel will do it snow? Or do I fire up the snowblower? Snowblower? Good!!! That's my power walker!!! I don't need a walker, but that's a power walker is a plus! More plowing power! All that energy it takes to stay upright is aided by the blower, so you can put more into moving the snow! And my 80 year old widow neighbor's 2 doors down the block!

Now, what else is on the schedule for today? Yeah, that recipe with the broccoli and xxx sauce, will be WAY TOO MUCH,.. time to switch to steam it and season it! Every step counts! The first takes 8, the latter, 3, including plating. So yes, you learn energy management! BUT, it's Okay. It's doable! Always is. You may not feel like it, but you'll survive.

Move on. Tomorrow will be more challenging! You forgot, you have to.....damn....tomorrow. But you'll get to....too!

IT'S ALL ABOUT LEARNING TO MANAGE. Life's good, even with M.S., just have to learn to play the game! (Get a camper in the woods). LOL!

Where you spend a fortune to live like a homeless person. But it teaches you life skills!!! That carry over into M.S. management. Graduate, year of...I forget!

Jesmcd2 profile image
Jesmcd2CommunityAmbassador in reply to MarkUpnorth

Love reading your answers MarkUpnorth they always make me smile! And of course it's learning how to manage! Manage, and be flexible! What doesn't get done today will probably get done maybe next week!

No snow plow, just a shovel! I look at as building up muscles for cage diving! πŸ¦ˆπŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŒ

With sharks? I love the water, from up top fishing, sailing, swimming immediately as a kid, to even scuba diving for a while,.. but go in a cage, the cage is there so you don't get eaten. Yeah, for all the fishing I've done, they'd call in the really big fish to make sure and eat me! I stay above the water more these days. Okay, the winding pools are safe, except for the pandemic!

Yeah, I have a friend who has free fall dived out of a plane how many times in his past,... would I ever? I'm too happy with my sorry life with M.S, to risk it. Risk tolerance, zilch, for having done the unthinkable for how many years to earn a living. But, it was a living. Never saw the "fortunes that could be had doing so", but it was a living. I wore a respirator for years. So now, with a pandemic, it's second nature. And much easier than a N98, or the like. Still on my first set of P100 cartridges, though I never had a treadmill stress test wearing a respirator, as every one of my employees had to, every year, to meet OSHA requirements.Exec's were exempt. Or did they hoped they dropped dead? Not my employees. Treat the like family, they will do the same for you.Sharks...how do they taste? Think I had one once, didn't impress me.

I know that I have to do stuff, and one of the biggest chores is showering and shampoo. I went to a short hairstyle years ago because of this, but it is still one of the most fatiguing things I do, especially when you add in the blow drying and hot ironing! I just find myself procrastinating so badly! I used to have to-do lists when I was working but I usually didn't get it all done because of stuff that came up during the day. They did help--but that was when I was answerable to a court and a client, much higher authorities! Now that I am answerable only to myself, my old problem with authority comes out and I look at my to-do lists and ignore them.

From what I have read on it, it activates your own steroids. Do you have a problem with it? As in side effects coming off of it? What kind of problem did you have with the steroids? I know you have told me before... MS you know!πŸ˜”πŸ€£πŸ€—πŸŒ

Sukie427 profile image
Sukie427 in reply to Jesmcd2

You are right, it does force your adrenal gland to make its own corticosteroid. Once you get the hang of it it’s not difficult to inject. I just felt hot all the time and very hyper; normal effects of steroids. However, I developed a small adenoma on my adrenal gland which has remained stable over the years as well as necrosis of the sub-patellar bone in both knees. Not sure if the Acthar is to blame because with the 25 years of migraines plus the years of MS I have taken a lot of steroids. But in an abundance of caution I quit using it. The last really bad relapse I had was a year ago. Haven’t had any since starting the OCREVUS. So hopefully I have outgrown any need for it. It’s a very potent drug but it always helped me. Hope this helps you! Keep me posted.
