Got some good news and bad news over the Thanksgiving weekend and this morning.

This is the good news I got morning: I got a call from the investigation arm of my health insurance company. They were calling in regards to the complaint I made to my case manager about how the clinics of a healthcare system NEVER has anywhere to sit in shade or shelter from rain or snow for patients who must wait outside for their transport--insurance company's, city public bus system for the disabled, Lyft or Uber, or even family member or friend. They were telling me they are filing the complaint but just need a bit more info from me! So it is on! This healthcare system will hear about how they are screwing over their patients who do not drive themselves to appointments! Woooo Hooooo!

Now for the bad news: A lady who attended our MS self-help group every month, passed away from COVID 19. We haven't had a meeting for the past 8 months, and I miss everyone., and that was so sad to hear.

One of my partner's aunts, who was having heart problem , went into a hospital to have a pacemaker inplanted. But they found stage 4 lung cancer somehow in the process. It wasn't enough that she was dealing with her son who'd had such an advanced case of prostate cancer that he lost his prostate, his bladder, and part of his spine. Now she has lung cancer.

I'm so sorry to hear about your partner's aunt and her son. What a load to carry! I am happy that your request for shelter is being looked into. It's not just for yourself, but for many others, I'm sure. I thought about that recently when having to go to the hospital a few times. They are doing construction pretty much everywhere there with no parking anywhere close. For people like us, it's a big deal to have to walk. Keep us posted!

Maybe you will be part of making a difference for everyone that can't drive themselves to that facility and possibly other facilities with the same problem. Sorry about your partner's family, cancer is such a nasty disease. And sorry you lost your friend to covid19. I have had 4 family members that have had covid19. My mother n law is still going through it, she has had a rough time of it.

That was what I was emphasizing with the investigator. I'm 53, use a cane and had a really hard time seeing the screen on my phone, but I'm NOT the only one. There are more elderly patients coming out who have canes and walkers, and not every walker is a Rollerlator with a seat. I pointed out there was one of the clinics that did have metal picknick tables that were in shade, but they had to move them to the otherside of the clinic because of building an urgent care wing. So they put those tables on a south-facing side that doesn't get shade until about 4pm these days, much later in the hellish summer. And that COVID has really forced it is to a serious issue because the clinics don't really want patients coming back inside. And thank you for your sympathy regarding my fellow MS group member, and my partner's family members. Though I will say my partner's family is in so many ways, my family, too. My partner and I have been together 31 years. When I was in the hospital in 2018, his aunts came to the hospital to see me, though I was seriously FUBARed in the ICU. That was more than my own bloodline uncle did.
