We learned today that the GP I've been with since 1987 is NOT retiring this year after all. She's decided to keep going indefinitely, which makes me very happy! She's the ONLY doctor who believed in me during all the years I waited for a diagnosis, not to mention that she's taken care of my kids their whole lives. I did not want to have to start over with someone new at this point in time.
Part two of the good news is that she's as frustrated as we are with the lack of help we've been getting for my Limbo Lander son. She's put in new requests for updated records from our neuro's office, which stopped sending anything to her when our actual neuro retired 2 years ago. Once she looks over everything, she's going to decide for herself what tests to schedule for him, and she's also referred him to 3 city specialists. We might actually make some progress this year!

How wonderful! I had a GP who was the best person I've ever met. He's only 1 year older than I am and thought we'd "age together". When he decided to retire it just gutted me. I trusted him completely. I went to someone else who was not a good fit at all. I was able to message my other one and asked who to see. He told me and for the 1st time in my life I have a woman doctor who is wonderful. I'm glad you didn't have to go through that. I still would go back to Dr. K, given the chance.
Great news! I am so happy for you! I still don't like my new Neurologist/MS specialist, but I have very limited choices as to what I can do about it. I have put off my check-up for 2 months already, and I did have my annual physical with my PCP yesterday.
