Copaxone and other stuff

Hi everyone! This past few weeks when I inject, I get a little bit of chest tightness. It is mild and lasts 5-10 minutes and then it’s gone. With my Friday night injection, I had the same thing but with a rush of metallic taste in my mouth. It lasted a little bit and then went away. I can deal with both of these things but am a little scared that I am going to have the big reaction.

Then.... my 15 year old son had an episode of urinary retention yesterday. He is ok and eventually was able to go. He has had a lot of eye pain recently, with and without headaches, and had a full eye exam last week. The dr said dry eyes from so much time on the lap top for school. The retention scares me. That is one of my big problems. My son is totally healthy and has not had symptoms that would indicate that he has anything like MS.

I can't address your son's problem but your reaction to Copaxone was similar to mine in the beginning.

It started with pain & swelling at the injection site, then the tightness in the chest and finally escalated to falling on the floor with an inability to move along with labored breathing and chest pain.

I decided then that I was done with it & called my neuro who told me the same thing.🙄

I'd talk to your doctor.

Good suggestion! I'd also get your son evaluated further if his symptoms continue.

talk to the your doctor about your reactions to the meds and as have your son have a doctors call also....take care and be safe with any problems it is better to call a doctor than letting things go that are not some thing that you haven't had before and let the doctors look into it ....love and happiness...

I called the Neuro office and talked to the nurse. She said the chest tightness was was a normal side effect, it wanted to talk to dr about metallic taste. I was supposed to get a call back, but I did not. Tonight is injection night so we will see what happens.

Good luck. Keep us updated and let us know what your dr says when they call back. If you don't get a call back, call them. Stay proactive.

They did not call me back yesterday. I went ahead and did my injection last night and it went ok. I called again this morning and the nurse apologized. She is supposed to get with the dr again and call me today. That was at 9 this morning.

I started taking Copaxone in 2000. I had chest tightness, the funny metal taste as well, both symptoms lasted about 15 minutes happened a couple times in the first month or two then went away.. Good luck to you hope the side effects go away soon.

It happened to me when I injected too deeply or into a blood vessel. The Copaxone nurse that teaches injections should come out again and help you.
