A few weeks ago, my new primary care Dr. ordered a blood sacrafice from me, and I'd visited his vampires. Well, this morning was the, "And the results are . . . . "

It is official:

I am borderline diabetic!

Hey, why not add diabetes to Emphazema/ COPD, brain anurysms, DVTs and PEs, and MS?

No diet changes because I've been on a pretty strict absolutely no carbs, no sugar diet from my cardiologist for the last 6 months, and he recently said I could go with the Keto diet if I wanted, and my primary care agreed.

Are you going for the Guinness book of records? Not good news but hopefully the diabetes can be controlled easily. Blessings Jimeka 🤗

Umm, did I mention dentures, legal blindness, noduals in my lungs, TIA, a steel knee, arthritis, breast leisions, hearing difficulties, morbid obesity, penicillin allergy, gastroparisis, ,depression and plantar faciitis? Oh! And I'm losing my hair!

If I was a camera that came through my repair department, I'd write BER on the invoice. BER = Beyond Economical Repair. LOL!

The blood sacrafice said I had high blood sugar, but low insulin. So he gave me a sample of Trulicity, I did the first injection in the exam room with the Dr's assisstant (Yea! My 13th med!) , and I ge t a follow up in 3 months. He wants me to stick to the KETO diet my cardiologist put me on, and if I can't continue it, he'll send me to a nutritionist. He thinks if I could get my weight under control, my chances of going to full blown diabetes. At least I won't be pricking mt finger every day.

Sorry to hear dear, I can empathize...

My physical therapist said I had high blood pressure and unwilling, to let me proceed...until I was on meds...

My visit at the optometrist yesterday...told me I need bifocals now

Hang in there!

Just “changes” I guess

Maybe it is "cat scratch fever" taken out of context? Only humor is meant. Stay safe and get the help you need!

I actually really appreciated it. My previous primary care Dr. ( the one I had to can ), just danced around those results. She never acknowledged possible diabetes, never discussed any kind of treatment, but she sent me to a podiatrist because she freaked out over the feet of a former dancer who ran around barefoot all the time. The podiatrist just said after his exam that I had some really tough calluses and he'd proscribe a lotion to help with that, but he didn't see any sores a diabetic should be conserned with. That was the first time "diabetes" was even uttered since I'd just gotten out of my last rehab hospital, (and that was a nurse telling me I had been put on a med that WOULD turn me diabetic, and that's why the University Hospital was pricking my finger every day.) So it was frustrating to see blood test results, and see glucose levels "high" (I knew what glucose was!), but never have her talk about it. And I did not have the ability to talk to her openly because she just wouldn't listen! The diabetes thing was important to me. Diabetes killed my Dad! And I was the only one on my Dad's side of the family that didn't have diabetes. So to have a Dr. see those test results and decide those results were important, and action was neccessary, was HUGE relief! :D

Hopefully you can get it under control with making changes to your diet. I'm glad you have a dr that was finally able to be honest with you about what is going on. Please keep us updated when you can.

LOL! Well, I used to say about the autobiography--all the paperwork I'd have to fill out when I go to a new Dr. that I wish, under "Family History" they'd just have an "All of the Above" line for me to write an X for. But in writing that whole list of MY health issues, my Dr.s could just do the same for ME! "Yep, Ms Wood is All of the Above. Though I prefer to consider myself a "job creator". I keep a lot of specialists employed! :D

Good point! I never thought of the job security we were giving others. Give, give, give...until it hurts...like Frank Cross in Scrooged... except we really are! Too funny. Well, let’s consider ourselves exceptional. I hope you are able to keep it all in check.
