Not political...

Someone, not saying who, just said last night, if re-elected,will abolish social security and all Medicare. What will disabled and elderly do if that were to ever happen? Just a thought worth pondering. No political statement needed here. No comments needed either.

I hope our elected representative don't let that happen because if it does, a whole lot of us 'd be up &*#&*(^$&* creek without a paddle.

I hate to say it, but I fear that the suicide rate among seniors and disabled persons would skyrocket. So many are alone or already underinsured, losing what they have would simply devastate them. I knew you would be on top of this info.

As jimeka says, we would also be without a canoe. Eliminating or making drastic cuts to the safety nets that so many of us depend on would be an immoral act, harming the most vulnerable among us, sending the message that those who are ill, disabled, living in poverty, elderly and no longer able to work for a wage, struggling in myriad other ways -- such lives are worthless. This is a wealthy nation with a growing gulf between those who have enormous wealth and great power and the rest of us. Those whose stance is "more for me and my friends, less for you" should lose their political positions. A nation that devalues those who need a little bit of help to live and turns a blind eye and deaf ear to the struggles of their fellow humans does not live up to its promise of justice and equity for all.

You said no comments, but I see people are commenting anyway. I sent you a private message with my comment because I didn't want to go political on a somewhat public forum. But, friends, I am sorry to report, the man did not make that statement. He said he would defer payroll tax now (9/1)to help during the covid pandemic, and if reelected would terminate the deferred payroll tax that would have to be paid back if he is not elected. And he plans to revamp payroll tax, lowering the tax on low income tax, and raising tax on upper income tax. Which would decrease the growing gulf between the classes. It grieves me to think the CEO of Amazon is now the wealthiest man in the world, thanks to Covid19. I think his new-found wealth should be distributed to all families who lost the breadwinner of their family to Covid19. But, then, I have gone and got political. The only joy left in my life is this forum. Wonder what that means for my mental health?

Well said, agapepilgrim because you took the time to do some research. It saddens me greatly to see that some will spread any thing that they hear with absolutely no effort to do their due diligence. :(

Being NOT POLITICAL medicare will not be cut. It would be suicide for either party to do something that stupid. There is money already set aside just for those kinds of legislations. Remember this is an election year and you will hear all kinds of things as scare tactics. All parties do it and have done it for years and years during an election year.

Good morning ☀️ All—-

Saw this post yesterday and tempted as I was to comment, I did not.

It is an election year, with a side of virus 🦠

Be careful what you listen to....

Your statement is ludicrous. Then you have the audacity to make such an allegation and not want comments.

To keep everyone clear, I ALWAYS do my research. On this, we must agree to disagree. I only suggested no comments for the purpose of avoiding personal, unhappy arguments. I have reached out very lovingly to someone who I have believed to be a follower of Christ in friendship, with absolutely NO response. This is how good supposed friendships show who truly will offer peace, and who will not accept that loving effort. Interesting.

For any conflict this has caused, I apologize, but never for my opinion, as I would never want anyone to apologize for their opinion.

Everything is good here with me.....

No argument

No worries 😉 friend.
