This is Ike after a long day of protecting what is important to him. His family, cat, bird, chickens, and chasing deer out of the garden.
He will be 12 in August. We have had him since he was 3 months old.
After a long adventuresome life of backpacking, walks and fun he does like to sit on his porch and watch the world go by a bit more these days, but is still up for a 5 mile hike to the creek for swimming.
He is also good at chasing bears away.
One couldn’t ask for a better friend.
What a great companion!

There is nothing like the unconditional loyal love of a dog who is treated as part of the family with the same unconditional love. They are simply amazing, do not hold grudges, always happy, ready to go, listen compassionately, stand by your side even if you are wrong, protect you always if they can, and even sleep with you just for a little food, a little rub and pat and bath, and lots of love.

He is a great dog with an outstanding personality. We went for a hike today in one of his favorite places: the Sierra high country. He loves the water and hiking.
He does take a little extra care being almost 12 but I don’t mind after giving us so many good years together. It’s the least we can do for such a good friend.
He is beautiful. Looks so gentle.
