Nothing yet. Used to be on SSDI but transitioned a few years back to straight Social Security. I keep checking my bank account but nothing yet.

pamgarner profile image
pamgarner in reply to cheilke

did you have to transition yourself,or did they automatically do it for you?thanks for info

cheilke profile image
cheilke in reply to pamgarner

Automatic. The amount stayed the same.

agate profile image
agate in reply to cheilke

@cheilike, there shouldn't be any problem with switching from SSDI to regular Social Security. I went through that transition a while back and was afraid it would be difficult but everything just went on as usual, with the same check in the same amount coming in every month. So that transition shouldn't affect your stimulus check payment either.

Or at least that's my guess. If my stimulus check ever comes, it's already spent because it will go right to the credit card I owe on.

I always have credit card debt and that's been true ever since MS came along and I could no longer earn a living. I don't get enough from Social Security to live on because I hadn't worked long enough to qualify for more, being a woman who spent about 6 years out of the work force raising kids and becoming disabled at 39.

This happens to people with MS, particularly women. Unless you have considerable savings or know some generous people who want to help you, you have to get along on Social Security or in some cases welfare or SSI. You pinch pennies and try hard to keep the credit card people happy.

We have 1 credit card. Last January I found out from my husband what the interest rate was. 25%... So I marched into a bank and got a line of credit. Less than 5% now and nothing on the card.

I haven't received mine yet. But I haven't filed my 2019 taxes yet so I'm not surprised. I filed my 2018 but did not get a refund so I may have to wait a long time. That year I took a payout from an IRA to reinvest in a Roth IRA. This raised my income enough that I won't get but about $750 anyway. I plan to donate most of that since my income is not affected by the pandemic.

I received my payment the day they started directly depositing them because I was working in 2018-2019, however, I now get SSD. From my understanding,SSD and SSI participants will be receiving their checks the end of April and beginning of May directly deposited. If you have children under 17 years old, they were asking for you to file for the kids money under IRS.gov. There is a place for you to file for the kids, but if its just you, it will be directly deposited.

Glad you asked! NO! My husband and I are on SSI, and we filed already for 2019 - broke even, and 2018 - got refund. But, still no stimulus money. Would like to know what the criteria were for these payments. We are about to think, the older you are, the later you get your payment, because if you get the virus, you might not need it anyway!!!!

pamgarner profile image

I also thought this might be a plot to get rid of seniors(joking)I did read if your spouse passes away before you get there check and you keep it,they will send you a bill and have to pay it back

Nothing yet, but when I checked the site to check status, it was supposed to have been mailed this past week so I should be getting it this week. And my credit union just restarted mobile deposits! Now I just have to sign the back of the check and add 'for mobile deposit' and take pics of front and back and submit to the bank and I will be done. No having to leave the house. Will take a day or so to clear which is fine by me :)

Have a great day everyone!

NO. Will I ever get it?

pamgarner profile image
pamgarner in reply to

exactly!

1. Go to IRS.gov website. You can get a status on when the money will arrive. My wife who is a taxpayer got hers 2 weeks ago. I checked the IRS site and it stated I would get a direct deposit on a certain day and I did.

2. If you have filed taxes 2018,/2019/2020, with direct deposit bank account details it should be easy to determine when that deposit will arrive.

3. If you have not filed taxes, you can file for the federal taxes for free on the IRS.gov site with one of the "free" oferrings. A filing essentially allows you to add your accont details. This was needed a few weeks ago, but the requirement may have changed due to pressure from House Democrats.

4. If you recieve money by cheque in the mail, you have to wait until they can be reprinted with Trump's name on it. This is expected to delay receipt for a month or so.

There are issues. A neighbor tells me that they have filed with bank details, but so far have not received a deposit and may possibly get a cheque in the mail. It wasn't clear what the IRS.gov site indicated as to their status as it was handled by one of their children.

Jds1945 profile image
Jds1945 in reply to

well we are social security and don't file however they have our bank account because we get our social security checks deposited in it directly. when i look it up at irs website it say we cannot determine your eligibility at this time. what's that's supposed to mean. we don't file because we don't make enough money to file. very glad for you atolley . but the rest of us need it too.

I got a check. I'm also on SSDI and TRIED to get the router number from the Govm't Debit card for this payment but no humans work for that entity so their robot menue had no area beyond card balance. Since I have no bank account, I'll be investigating options beyond getting a nice frame to hang it on my wall.

Your situation shows that the IRS and SocSec do not communicate. This is crazy. Have you tried corresponding with your representatives to highlight the situation. At least 2 of the commenters seem to fall through the same crack. This seems unconscionable, much like ignoring the self-employed and gig workers.

Got ours several weeks ago. We had filed our taxes and received a refund before this hit. Being retied and over 70, this has had little impact on us. We wear masks when going to the market; wash hands a lot, that's about it

We are dividing the money between four servers where we regularly eat and using ½ towards a bucket list USA river trip. We think that will be a good use of the cash.

Hey! Everybody! We finally got a check! We filed taxes online, got last years refund direct deposit. Get our SSI direct deposit, and they send us a check! Everybody has our bank numbers! Go figure! Whatever, it'll still spend, at least after we drive the 34 miles to the bank and back. Maybe this will be some others' lucky day too! So glad I wasn't dependent on this money for food, or medicine, or rent...... Thank you Lord, for my blessings!

MarkUpnorth profile image

NOPE, But I had my Congressman who offered his constituents via a newsletter, help in getting yours after first trying the IRS website, which many did. The IRS website had been down, or at least not functioning to be able to tell you anything. His local office is blocks from our house, and they were so swamped, the voice mail was full the few times I tried. I did get through to leave a message once, asking for the help offer. I got a call back the next day from Washington D.C.! Yes his office there. Someone helped me, but could only say that the site was not working again, after how many days. And the error code I received, was probably going to remain unresolved for a very long time.

I did however read something somewhere, which gave me an estimate of of the end of May, for our measly income. (My wife does daycare these days at a fancy chain - for the health insurance if nothing else.)

The estimate was the end of May. So, we wait, still hopeful.

And I didn't get anything but I really need this money. Where should I go to find out where's my money? Thank you in advance for your help. Actually, money is a sore point for me, because it is always not enough. I need to pay for my education, rent, and a car that I borrowed. And so I urgently need to get a good job online. My neighbor told me about retail arbitrage and I found an article about it on the Internet ( you can find it here yourmoneygeek.com/retail-ar... ). It seemed to me that this is a good business that can bring a good income. If you know anything about this, I would like your advice.
