Ok, any fellow book lovers out there? I really need a funny, light weight book to read. One that makes you set it down a minute while you laugh! An escape from all this heavy, depressing stuff around us.

I downloaded a few on my kindle, but they are a snooze-fest so I'm up for suggestions!

I have read a few but unfortunately my short term memory makes them long gone. I will see if I can find them. I only get the free ones.

That's why I cant read a long story I like books I can pick up and put down without problems

Right. It’s funny when I tried Audio for awhile, if I didn’t finish a book in one setting, I had to start over. Took forever!!!! And if I’m reading I have to scroll back to See who the person is. so I prefer short stories also ftom eReaderIQ Books Daily books for my iPad kindle free 5 choices every day. It lists the number of pages on each page and approx hours to read. A lot of them are 3 hours - a good light read that doesn’t require critical philosophicical deep thinking / just distraction from pain and nerves. Helps put me to sleep. Happy reading.

So how do I look up short stories to find something I like

Do you read on a kindle reader or iPad kindle or iPhone kindle books or have library card to download books from local library or what’s your source to read? You can find short stories on unlimitedKindle for free if you are a member or I get mine free via eReaderIQ or pay 99cents if it’s worth it. Sometimes I find a collection of 30’short stories or novellas for 99 cents. I’m a bargain on low income🤣🤣

I have kindle on my iPad my daughter bought me. She listens to Audible books on her iPhone while she jogs via unlimitedKindle. I also still have books on my old traditional kindle my sister had bought haven’t read all those yet. My phone doesn’t have enough storage to read or listen and I need the big print my iPad allows me. Good luck finding what you enjoy.

I don’t know your taste, but I prefer old classics. I really enjoyed Jerome Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat.

I also really enjoyed P G Wodehouse. Hilarious.

I read a lot of detectives (Agatha Christie style) or drama but one I read was kinda surprise and funny: “peas carrots and a Aston Martin “. It was a British movie so I had to google a few words for their colloquial meaning which was funnier. As I said in earlier post I get my books only from the free source, eKindle free books. Some are 99 cents but seldom buy them. Sent in an email everyday, 5 choices. You can choose your genre - I just never chose comedies. There is a series of grandmothers in a nursing home who solves mysteries. They can get funny! Hope you find some good ones! I’m still reading atb2:30 am. I sleep better mid morning. Sleep clinic diagnosed it as Delayed Sleep Didorder, so no not working since ‘95 I just go with body’s schedule.

I’m interested too...the last few I’ve read, while very good, were very heavy: The Alice Network, How to Forget, the Bookshop in Berlin, The Deepest Well.

I’d love a light read!

I love reading Amish books....fictional stories with Amish characters. Kelly Irvin is a great author in that genre. Easy reading and you always feel uplifted while reading.

Have you read "Where'd You Go, Bernadette?" I suggested it to my sister who read it in bed and woke her husband up with her laughing.

Also anything by Sophie Kinsella. Light reading and really fun.

That is a cute book

Bossypants, Shittymom (prob not that funny if you are but currently chasing littles), Napalm and Silly Putty.

Anything you can lose yourself in will technically allow you to escape? I found the Game of Thrones series very hard to put down. Any of the top Holocaust novels will make your troubles seem trivial. 12 Rules for Life might be the best thing I’ve read in a decade. I’m currently enjoying a pre-history kick.

If you are reading to a child (or dog?), I can’t make it through Pout Pout Fish or The Wonky Donky without cracking up a few times.

Holocaust- The Alice Network was good!

Dr Seuss 😊

kdali in reply to erash

I had to stop with the Holocaust after 4 books, it was getting to where I needed to vent but had no one to talk to about it. I will add Alice to my next dark adventure! It’s always my plan for the month of Jan now.

Yes! Hop on Pop was hilarious to me when I was little 🥰
