.....but really it’s an excuse to say hi, shamelessly chase cowboy; and not talk about the coronavirus for a hot minute LOL The virtues of snails seemed much more fitting this special day.
So I think we all make like snails, it’s all starting to make sense now .... (or nonsense depending on which way you look at it)
We are patient, mindful and measured.
We move slowly, but with purpose and focus.
We accept what we can’t change; and put all our might into what we can.
We are all unique, colourful characters.
We are too kind and too loving? Am I right?
But we, and they; do our best every day - and that’s all we all can do, right?
And keep each other amused, distracted and fascinated by each other’s achievements ( even if it is only keeping myself alive - and a few garden snails - (Although I do enjoy a good painting by numbers, when my shaky hands permits… I will post a photo)
And everyone else keep the Amazing crochet, fur babies, photos, paintings music etc (OMG we are a lucky bunch aren’t we)
How quick do your snails grow? They are incredible creatures unfortunately they love my garden and eat my plants. I don’t directly kill them but I throw them into the open so the black birds can get them. Anyway Happy St Patrick’s day to you. 🍀 🤗
Lol yes me ma hated them, she used to use a tennis bat to fire them over the garden wall - I know what you mean they are a pain to gardeners and farmers
You can actually hear them eating, they actually munch !
As for how quick they grow, well I don’t know because ive never seen a newborn baby snail before in all my 45 years, or had any interest in them.
I know in four months Finn and Sophie have only grown a tiny bit
When I found GU Fester I researched to try and gauge his age.
Apparently older snails have a cream ridge on the edge of their shell (which he has) and they can live for 25 years!
He is definitively an old soul and an old snail.
You can get humane snail catchers and egg shells around your beloved veg and flowers can deter them
It’s the circle of life though isnt it, you are right, they provide valuable food for other critters
And mine are livin the dream, safe and loved
