Unprecedented in the last hundred years of modern history is the year 2020. The corona pandemic basically caught the world with its pants down. If you would have asked me 5 years ago it's the world would shut down from a virus I would have told you you were crazy cuz our modern medicine was to strong and effective.
The world as we know it will never be as innocent as it was again. We now know the threat is real and we know what damage it can cause. I have the awful feeling that this is the first one but not the last one.
Is to keep track of everyone and the make sure we're all doing good and healthy despite being bored to death as we hunker down in our homes.
But we'll try to make this a weekly post so we keep track of people because it is important right now to know you are cared about. We can offer the support each other might need. Right now that's more important than ever because as we have already started to share with one another we know we're in this together. And we're never alone We're Alone together. The sound off and let us know you're okay and wait for next week's post to do the same thing. π€ππ Fancy!

Sometimes I wonder when this will all be over, and then I realize that if we all do our part, even if it's being alone, together, then it will pass. Keep Smiling
Re "Unprecedented in the last hundred years of modern history is the year 2020" - yes - strictly speaking you are correct as it is 102 years since the 1918 flu pandemic, but that's really just playing with semantics.
Bad as it is looking right now it is not really unprecedented - the 1918 flu pandemic was worse than we are facing now, with the estimate of deaths being fifty million people. What we can be thankful for is that we have better resources and knowledge to try and have vaccine/s and treatment/s available which wouldn't have even been possible back then. We also have medical technology which can help with saving lives.
However, if things are to have any hope of being controlled then people must take it seriously and really comply with the directives about staying at home and social distancing etc.
I wonder if the anti-vaxxer brigade will be refusing vaccinations for COVID-19 when they become available. They've done enough to contribute to the recent measles outbreaks recently as it is. Maybe they might learn something from this current coronavirus outbreak.
Ty Fancy TY for such sweetness. If it wasn't the covid 2 weeks back...im taking all measures to avoid it or give it...boy, it could have been worse. I pray for others and I am blessed to have found all of you....
I am really wondering something. Six months ago or so, I read an article that global warming was starting to melt the permafrost. Scientists said that germs that have not been seen in millions of years are going to defrost and cause havoc. I really, really wonder if this is what started it all. That would make sense that this emerged in China as that country is one of the worst polluters. Just wondering...
No, you don't need to wonder or worry about it coming from ancient "germs" from melting permafrost. Coronaviruses are those that cross from animal sources to humans, although the exact conditions which allow this to happen are not properly understood. The previous coronaviruses SARS in 2002 and MERS in 2012 appeared to have done this, but the consequences did not get to be as anywhere near as bad as this current one. China's pollution levels have nothing to do with it, but possibly their markets which mix live animal trade with foodstuff are thought to be a possible source, and bats are also thought to be a carrier of many coronaviruses.
If you ask Mr Google "how coronaviruses cross into humans" you will get many very technical scientific papers come up about the subject - most of which are unintelligible to everyday people like thee and me....
Well, I'm not worried about it, I just wondered. Especially when I remember the article I read, I believe it was sometime last year. I know firsthand those Chinese markets. Most, if not all, stories about them talk about how dirty and nasty they are. I didn't see that at all. I'm sure there are some but not where I went. It was so clean, not even a fly was there, which I found amazing. I took more photos there than anywhere else!
