Firstly, happy New Year Sisters and Brothers. Another trip around our star and in our case quite possibly a trip while waking on a flat smooth surface. Such is the life of somebody with ms. Learn to fall it hurts less, and maybe "YOU" do not look quite so silly. I prefer a loud bang and much loud cursing, but that is just me.
I often suggest that "YOU" learn everything that "YOU" can about this disease. As the experts say "Knowledge is POWER" and I am very big on getting back what power I had once and building new power whenever I can. A great way for "YOU" to look at things as well. I do not think this life was ever planned for us was to be totally weak and useless. Merely a burden to ourselves and others. No, "YOU" and I can survive and thrive with this incurable illness. We all can be a beacon for somebody lost, for somebody to be amazed by. We do not have to be weak and pitied.
With that in mind, I am listening to a book that "YOU" should be interested in hearing.
Lost Connections by Johann Hari
Of course anything by Bill Bryson, I love his adventures. In Particular The Body by Bill Bryson.
Do not merely look at ms as a disease, look for ways that "YOU" can work around it and with it. Do not ever give up and cry yourself into years of loneliness and despair. Homo Sapiens were not meant to be that way, "YOU come from much stronger stock than that. "YOU" are the culmination of thousands of generations of Humans that never gave up, that persevered, that struggled. It is your turn now, my sibling, and "YOU" can learn to thrive with ms. Look a little less at what our current society says "YOU" should be and a little more at what "YOU" would like to be.
A person with an incurable, chronic condition who takes this life by its horns. Bends it as best "YOU" can, to your will, accepts that this task will never end. Shrugs your shoulders, cry a little and then carries on as good as "YOU" can. Knowing that "YOU" will never win, but "YOU" can put up a GREAT show of your efforts.
Search for your way through life with ms. I have seen some beautiful artwork on the msAA website ,I have seen some incredible canes, some really beautiful quilting what can "YOU" do? I bet there is something, look. Look for it.
Bend like bamboo, never break merely bend.
