I have woke up with eye pain for 3 days now. I am also fighting a cold. Pain goes away throughout the day but i wake like someone punched me in the eye. Only 1 eye. I can see fine. Is this MS or just a dumb setback. I have has MS for 15 years and this is new. I will call neurologist monday.

Thank you

Jenny

I’m so glad you’re alerting your neurologist. MS does such odd things to us, but there may be another cause. Keep us posted.

calling the doctor is the best idea or go to eye doctor ...take care .....do you have major since pressure because of the cold....could also be what it is but yes talking to the doctor is the best solution ....love and much happiness.....

If you have had optic neuritis in the past, it could be your optic nerve reacting. Ever since my first bout of optic neuritis, my eyes will ache off and on for hours/days when the optic nerve has been affected by glare (outdoors or in), heat, or extreme cold and wind. My vision is not affected by this, but the pain is annoying and makes it unpleasant to do anything requiring close vision (i.e. reading, writing on the computer, watching TV). Your neuro may be able to diagnose what is going on.

could be ms related of course, but since you have a cold could it be sinus infection putting pressure on your eye as you lie down? just guessing,I ALWAYS look for easy answers/best to you!

That was my thought as well, sinus infection and pressure. When I get sinus infections, I get the pain above and around my eyes. Sometimes one eye more than the other. Good luck jkdavid99 Keep us updated when you can.

I have had eye pain on and off through the years. Not sinus pressure. Eye ball pain. Feels like shocking jabs to the eyeball. Also, not migraine pain. I get those too. This year (feb) it was worse than usual and neuro has never really addressed this through the years so I went to eye doctor. Turns out I have severe dry eye, most likely caused by all my medications. Maybe it would be beneficial to see an eye doctor to rule out issues?

My gets sore occasionally, when they ache, they even hurt when I touch outside of lid but the ache seems deep in eye. It usually goes away after 3 days. I read a lot so I think it’s related to eye strain, I have also had cataract surgery and lasik. Eye doctor tells me my eye is extremely dry and suggested Refresh Optive .At night when I read kindle in dark, my left eye has a dark shadow over it and it goes completely dark, but goes away when walk into light. My left side is mostly affected by MS. My neuro says this is due to MS.

It could be a relapse or like me a couple months ago had such severe pain thought eh might be another bout of optic neuritis or as the Opthamologist confirmed Trigeminal neuralgia. Oh happy day
