Good morning Eveliz, it's Fancy1959. The only time I've experienced any pain in that region was when I had taken Falls and landed on my posterior. It sounds as if you've got bruising of some sort. Do you ever have any issues with arthritis affecting your body? It could be that you got some deterioration going on down there where arthritis is sitting in or perhaps even a bone spur developing.

Whatever the possible cause, if it continues please get in to see your doctor. They can take more definitive actions and let you know exactly what it is. They are the professionals that we pay to take care of us. We here in the chat room, only share personal experiences or ideas. We are not doctors and you should never take our advice to heart as if we are a medical professional.

Good luck and make sure you take care of your tailbone. Please let us know what you find out. Until we speak again be careful and remember together we are stronger!

I'll echo what others are saying and recommend that you see your doctor. Any new symptom, whether it's related to MS or not, but which causes you pain, should be investigated. Even if it's "just MS," there may be something that could be done for the pain.

Hey Eveliz,

Every once and a while, I get really bad tailbone pain. It feels as if someone punched me there. I am not sure why I get it, and will try to take note next time that it happens. I don't necessarily attribute it to me 'ms' and it is probably due to my gait and balance. When I get it, I sometimes apply a heat pad to it. It is probably a good idea to get it checked out with your medical team so that you can get some advice on relief.

Hope this rambling reply helps you,

Carole :-D

I get similar, usually just to the left of my coccyx (tail bone). It feels as if it’s boring thru to my gut. It’s infrequent, usually at nite. No idea what the cause is but my back is a mess and I try stretching and or use a lidoderm patch which gives some relief.

I'm sorry you such bad pain. I get pain there after I have lifted something the wrong way, lifted too much, or slept the wrong way. I do have a bad back anyway so pretty much anything can set it off :( I hope you get relief soon. I would call your dr if you don't have relief soon. I usually use an ice back for mine.

Eveliz, Hi! I'm sorry you are having an issue with your tailbone. Do you sit a lot? I know when I do my tailbone will actually go out of whack and I have to go to my chiropractor to get it popped back into place. Hurts like a mother bear when he does it but oh, the pain relief, it is definitely worth it.

When my sister gets tailbone pain it means she is getting a bedsore. Her demyelinating disease causes her to be bed-ridden much of the time. When she gets a bedsore she has to watch for infection.

So like everyone else said you might want to get it checked out.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I do about once a month and it’s excuciating. Usually seems to happen when I am lying down. The only way I have found to relieve it sitting on the toilet and leaning forward. Lasts about 45 minutes to an hour - can barely walk. Then feels bruised for about 24 hours - then disappears. Haven’t mentioned it to my drs. -Kris

Eveliz I wonder if something with your MS has changed your gait? Or perhaps you are not as controlled when you sit down and somehow bruise your tailbone. I don't know, these are just a couple more things to consider.

Since this is unusual you should make an appointment with your Dr.

Could it be pressure sores? Do you sit a lot or lie in bed more and more?
