Eye Drops

When I saw my nervy eye doctor (neuro opthamologist), a couple of months ago,, he gave me 2 medicated eye drop bottles, and told me to use the drops first thing in the morning for my Dry Eye condition.

My nervy eye doctor is an excellent neuro opthamologist who specializes in MS-related vision issues. However, he didn't take into consideration the fact he'd given a woman with vibrating flippers for hands, eye drops!

I've already used up an entire bottle, and I think only 1 drop made it into one of my eyes, let alone both eyes!

My eye LIDS, and cheeks, and brows have gotten a lot of drops, but my eyes?

Nada!

They have this thing that you put on the eye drops and it covers your eye so the drops go in

erash My eye doctor prescribed Restasis for my dry eyes. He did the test on me before he prescribed them. In his words- I failed it miserably. But the drops truly help.

I totally understand. I've been trying to mend a rip in something I wear. When I finally get the needle threaded, I manage only a few stitches before it slips from my fingers and I have to start all over. This small task looks like it will require at least a month to complete. (And if I drop the needle while trying to thread it, it can take as long as 5 minutes to find and retrieve. Only to start the whole dang process over again.)

There are several eye drop assistive devices available. Try googling "autodrop eyedrop guide" for one of the most popular.

I have had chronic iritis all my life. When I had glaucoma surgery, my doctor prescribed steroid eye drops 3 drops a day. As a result, I was no longer able to walk without assistance. (I could walk just fine before this surgery.)

Anyway, the steroid eye drops caused dry eye, among other issues. I understand this is not your problem, but I was able to get rid of the dry eye condition by using the over the counter single vials Systane lubricant eye drops and taking fish oil. Any prescription eye drops exacerbated my MS.

Unfortunately I’ve tried Systane and take fish oil. Currently using Blink. My ophthalmologist recommended a prescription called xiidra but I was hoping to avoid this

Did you use single use vials? And not all fish oil works for dry eye. I had been on various eye drops most of my life. But about 4 years ago, all eye drops started interfering with my ability to walk. So Systane now are my only eye drops. What fish oil are you taking?

No it was a multi dose systane.

I assume the difference is prerogatives in the multi dose. That could certainly make a difference

Ugh *preservatives not prerogative

Any eye drops with preservatives are not good. The only Systane you should be using is the single use vials. And you can close these single use vials and use them a few times. The important thing is no preservatives. If you have dry eye already, preservatives don't do it any favors.

I already take fish oil. I'm so sorry to read what the steroids did to you.

I go tomorrow for the first time I’m hoping that she can do something about my “dancing eyes” 👀🤞. I already take flaxseed oil & xiidra for my dry eyes (these were prescribed long before my MS diagnosis)

Lmao! I needed that laugh! I'm the same! I think they forget about all the involuntary movements we have that isn't in our favor!
