As far as I know, lesions don’t really go away once they are there, since complete re-myelination doesn’t seem to happen from DMTs.

No, lesions have not disappeared and I have no expectation that they will. But they have become inactive and they are no new ones - this what Ocrevus is expected to deliver.

There are some studies out there showing that in most cases, if lesions are gone, it's because they've disappeared - i.e. the brain has shrunk, which is not that great either.

The brain is very plastic - I'm all for helping it rebuild connections around lesions. Folks with damaged brain from accident can regain some function (speech,...) by working at it. I have no reason to believe it would not be different for MS (once the disease is put dormant through DMT and the inflammation is gone). My 2 cents. not a doctor comment.

not to be a "debbie downer" but my neurologist told me success is with meds success is no new lesions, does not take old away.that being said, the earlier you catch it and start meds the more successful surveys have shown

Lesions can't go away, unfortunately, they are scar tissue. They may sometimes become undetectable on MRI scans over time, but autopsy studies in research have shown that they are still there.

Yep, not only is the damage there for good, but you now probably have some smoldering immune cells there, wreaking destruction slowly.

To my knowledge, "No." But no new ones either. The old ones, anyway, can't be eliminated I understand. I was on Tysabri for 6 years and switched to the two infusion cycles for Lemtrada (one for 5 days and the next one, and final one, for 3 days). No issues noted despite the many bad, slight possibilities.
