During that time, we started to go on walks together in the evenings.I remember being able to take deeper breaths with every day.
Then he switched shifts & we switched our walks to early morning. That is where many of my bird photos are from. Those were very nice times with him and I am looking to do that again once it cools off around here.
A few friends have asked over the years what the secret is to quitting
.My husband always responds,"Don't put cigarettes in your mouth."
Of course, no one ever wants to hear that but that is basically what it comes down to.
Sometimes you have to resist minute by minute but take it from me, It CAN be done!
Yes mamm it can My hubby & I quit back in Feb of 2000. It is deciding you are going to do it. We used a drug called Wellbutrin Recommended by our Dr. took it for two weeks before we quit then for about 6 weeks after our quit date. Got up that morning slapped on the nicotine patches 2 weeks on the highest and worked our way down. Feb. 1 2020 will be 20 years. I pray every night for anybody attempting to quit that they will have success. Mary
I had C5/C6, they went through my throat, it was a good op, so donβt be too concerned, you will recover well. As for the smoking donβt go cold turkey, take it steady, have you considered vaping instead of patches? Blessings Jimeka π€
You are pretty awesome yourself! When I quit I joined a Quit group on About.com. Hope they are still there, check into it, there was someone there almost any time of the day or night. You are stronger than Ol' Tricky Nic (Nicotine) About.com has changed ownwership twice and is called Dotdash. Not worth wasting your time on, sorry.
You can do this. I had C5/C6 done in 2004 thru the throat and it wasnβt bad. Not fun but not bad.ππ.
Let me know how the smoking goes cause I know I really need to quit. My determinations just weak. But Iβve got a lot of great grandchildren I need to be an example for. The patches never did me any good I think Iβm gonna try lozenges and gum this time.
Best of luck and ππ»ππ»ππ» for you my friend.
You can do this! I quit 26 years ago and now I canβt stand being around smoke. The worse non-smokers are ex-smokersπ. Best of luck with the surgery!!! Please keep us posted.
I quit when my grandson was born. 10 yrs ago for about 2 yrs. But my neighbors were bad bad chain smokers. π I didn't last long when I moved in here. π€£π Now it will be a smoke free apt.π€£ Juleigh21 π€ππ
No, you are awesome and I love you a lot, Jesmcd2 I have never been a smoker but I have been around ALOT smokers to make me a second hand smoker. Being around them made me physically sick. You can do it, and don't stop trying to quit until you succeed. Remember, one day at a time and you will do it! Go, Jes!
You got this Jesmcd2 We will all be here cheering you on. So happy to hear you started weaning down already. I have never been a smoker but my whole family has always smoked and a lot of people I know have been smokers. Thankfully a lot has quit or in the process. Keep up the good work.
My whole family smoked also. Along with relatives, so I grew up with it being normal. I just started smoking late. Like in my early 20s. And quit with my pregnancys. I just have to quit starting back again! π€£πππ€ππ
Deep breaths moment by moment. Remember if you pick up one cigarette, a thousand won't be enough. I am a former marlboro 100s box smoker, 9yrs smoke free. Quit many times til I quit. Hair, fingers, clothing all smelt of smoke. Deep breathing and cinnamon gum or mints. May the force be with you Jes!! Blessings Cynthia
Congrats to you!!! ππ That's amazing!!! I'm really hoping this will be the last time I quit also! I already have febreze in the Amazon cart to spray down my home!!!π€£π CynthiaS π€ππ
Jess I am so proud of you and everyone in our group who has quit smoking. My hubby has been quitting for over 60+ years. Good luck with the operation, keep us posted and you will quit smoking forever! πβ€οΈ
Hi Jesmcd2, I am doing well. I try to be positive everyday. It gets hard going thru pain but I pray about it and keep moving. How are you doing today? π
Hey Jes can you chew gum? I chomped on gum & crochet an afghan the first few weeks, my hubby keeps that afghan for winter time says it's his comforter.
Cutefreckles72 a relapse can happen anytime, unfortunately. The 1st thing you need to check for is infection, do you have one? Like a urinary tract infection will bring on symptoms of a relapse.
But!!! No One Here Is A Dr or can Take the place of your Dr!. βΊοΈ
You can check this out to see if you have these symptoms, and see if you should call your neuro! mymsaa.org/publications/ms-...
But you can always call them or email them if you have questions! Or ask here!
