Do you talk about ms at job interviews?

I was diagnosed almost a year ago and I’m going to my first interview since being diagnosed. I have an interview tomorrow and I’m unsure if I want to disclose my ms in fear of being rejected. I live in Florida, where I’m told employers have the right to fire or not hire because of anything. Do I tell them?? It’s working in a jail so I’m worried they SHOULD know in case of anything.

If you are going to work directly with the prisoners then yes, because the prisoners are constantly on the watch for weaknesses. Otherwise not unless you're called back for a second or third interview. Working in a prison they will need to know about health issues that could cause a safety concern not only for you but everyone around you.

I think it depends on the job you are applying for? I did when at my last job as I had a bad hobble. They overlooked it because of my background skills and actually helped me with insurance premium 👍. The owner of the business and manager took me to lunch for the job interview. As it turned out it was like working for my grandpa 👴🏽 and my best friend. You never know till you meet them in person to figure out their attitude. Good Luck 👍🙏😉 Ken 🐾🐾

Thank you for sharing this question, Lyssi458 - like Peruzzot and Kenu replied, I'm sure others may have different stories about their own work and interview experiences to share.

Thought this list of resources may also be helpful, from our "Employment and MS" publication:

if they are a good interviewer they will ask you if there is anything might keep you from performing all of your duties, if not you have to tell them, you want to keep yourself safe also...if this doesn't work out for you, there is another..good luck

I totally agreed with everyone and I’m so glad I reached out to this group. I did inform the employer during my interview yesterday and still got the job! Thanks everyone for helping guide me during this new experience with ms. ❤️❤️❤️
