The multicolored large quilt is queen sized. I made it for a friend of my daughter’s who had been very kind when my daughter was going through s rough time. It’s queen sized. She chose the fabric design, the colors, and the patterns. I have referred to it as the “quilt from down under,” but I don’t mean Australia! It was terribly tedious, and I grew rather tired of it, but she’s thrilled. I still have to bind it. The dinosaur quilt is for a truly remarkable friend who is donating it to raise funds for a great cause. It was such fun to make! The last is a block I will use to make a pillow to sell at our church’s bazaar to raise funds for our quilting ministry. Now it’s on to a quilt my niece requested as a wedding gift. It feels great to get these things done. I hope others will post about their hobbies for us to enjoy.

Beautiful work!
Nice work!!
C'mon though! Not one but three projects???
A caption for this photo might read," What have you accomplished lately????"
I swear this will inspire me to finish a project this week.It will.Go ahead, test me.🤣
👍👍👍especially the dinosaurs
Wow, beautiful!
That’s fantastic to have such wonderful masterpieces completed! Such a busy bee 🐝 you have been. You’re such a inspiration to me, greaterexp
Beautiful!!!
That’s so awesome...I love ‘em all! Great talent, greaterexp! That queen sized one must’ve taken quite a while to complete, no? Could you tell me about how long does it take to make just the pillows and do they help raise funds well?
The pillow top took an afternoon to make, though that isn’t the full construction of the pillow. It shouldn’t take too long to construct the pillow if I keep it simple. We will see if they sell!
Those are gorgeous!! Very well done.
What can I say, such God given talent. Beautiful. The queen size quilt is gorgeous but I can appreciate how long it must have taken you. Like erash , I favour the dinosaurs. 👍 🤗
Even though they aren’t purple?
It is hard to comprehend the time you spend in creating these works of art. Each piece you have shown us comes with a story of a thought that has been so lovingly made visible. You are truly gifted.
You’re so kind. But I should show you pictures of the truly awful stuff I was too ashamed to give to Goodwill!
I cherish a quilt made by my ex husband's Aunt Hazel. It is simple, would win no prizes at a county fair...but I treasure it, as I treasure my memories of her, and every time I take it out to use, it brings a message of the love I held for her. There's no need for perfection where love is involved!
That’s true. You’re one of those rare people who can look at something like that and see the love and effort that went into it rather than imperfections. I hand quilted a quilt for a family who had so little monetarily. They had an old quilt top a grandmother had made, and it had pleats and puckers and bubbles all over. But I’ll always remember the joy they showed at having that secured for future generations. What an honor it was to see that!
For many years, my sister would go to Missouri barn auctions and buy up old quilts. They were mostly unsalvageable as quilts. My sister would take the best parts and incorporate them into fabric angels that she sold at craft fairs, and gave to friends and family. I'll take a photo and try to post it for you. Mine is hanging behind me as I write.
you are a quilting whiz! so pretty
All are so pretty. I've started quilting again, but I'm doing it small steps and starting with baby quilts. Sewing has been a real challenge for me for the last 4 years as I get dizzy and then vertigo when I bend my head up and down, and I also get eye pain from eye usage with near vision. By placing my sewing machine at eye level atop a step stool, I am able to sew for a short time. I found some strips that I had cut out years ago and almost have the first top assembled. It is so easy to give up the hobbies that we love.
Absolutely beautiful! I envy your talent and hard work. I have 3 neighbors who quilt and I love seeing their latest projects. The neighbor right next to me made a unicorn quilt recently for a girl at her church who’s going through chemo. It was stunning!
You do such beautiful work!!!
,beautiful! I can understand the tediousness of the large quilt. My last one took me two years to get finished. The smaller ones are more fun & you get more satisfaction when finished.
Yes! There were so many steps for each block, and it was being repeated over and over. Funny, though, that the airplane quilt for my grandson is nearly king size, and though it took me over 2 years to finally finish, it didn't seem tedious. Those smaller projects are easier on the arms and the eyes. What are you working on now?
Right now I am working up some designs for wall hangings & lap quilts for Christmas & birthday presents. With a broken arm, very much sewing is kind of out of the picture but I can design, buy fabric & cut. One of these days I'm going to paint a scene with fabric. I've seen it done but haven't been brave enough to do it. I used to paint with oils & acrylics & painting with fabric sound like so much fun.
thanks for showing. they are all quite wonderful
They're beautiful! How did you lern to quilt?
Warm Wishes,
Leslie
Over 30 years ago, our tiny library had a class on quilt making. I went with a neighbor to check it out. That was long before rotary cutters! We did all piecing by hand, drawing seam allowances around templates, and cutting each piece with scissors. My first projects were a drunkard's path pillow, and then a twin size quilt for my daughter, all pieced and quilted by hand. We've come a long way, baby, but I'd still love to do hand quilting.
greaterexp your quilts are WONDERFUL. I too have quilted. I make my own designs. Each quilt is unique. I only have a simple sewing machine. I have hand quilted also but that was years ago. The bigger quilts are a lot of work.
Blessings to you and your quilting becky
We'd love to see some of your creations!
I don't know how to upload pictures.
Sorry. I suppose I could ask my son. He's the computer expert.
So far it must be done through the initial post, rather than when you respond to another post like this one. You may start a new post by clicking on "Write" in the blue box in the upper right corner of the screen. When you write the text of the post, you will be given an opportunity to add a picture. If you know which files your pictures are stored in, you may double click on the file, and it should appear where you are writing your post. Then click to post what you've written with the picture, and it should show up.
We hope to see some of your work!
Thank you greaterexp
You have been a real help on this forum! I truely appreciate your help and insincerity! I will try your directions but I'm not to savey with technology or with my mind/cognition because of MS. I get frustrated and scared at times because of how my thinking/mind works. It's like I feel am I going to loose my mind. And to think back when I had my SEVERE exascerbation I thought I was getting dementia or Alzheimer's. My MS nurse reassured me I wasn't and that I would get better. Took quite awhile and I still have trouble thinking talking REMEMBERING. Oh well I HAD to accept my life with MS or else stay angry 😠 and frustrated ALL the time. It was THAT bad. I could barely talk right. What I was trying to say to people. Ugh
Anywho I Am better but when I'm tired or get too hot I'm back to messing things up.
Thank you again for listening
