I find I have a harder time anymore completing certain projects because I lose interest or just feel burned out or as though I can't see progress quickly enough. I finally finished this quilt top, and that feels great, but it will probably sit a while because I have no idea how to quilt it. One step at a time!

I Get Burned Out More Easily
Well it’s beautiful! You certainly are gifted in this area.
I too have a problem w/getting bored in the middle of a project. I’ve got several just sitting around waiting on me! It frustrating.
I have found a project that intrigues me. It’s home automation. I’ve got 4 Alexa devices operating indoor lighting, outdoor flood lights, HVAC control & 3 TVs. It’s fun because I have built it in phases. When I get tired of it I stop until I wanna do more. Perfect for me & manageable financially.
Gorgeous!
I like to listen to music on my MP3 while I work with a cup of tea.
It's a great way to escape into something other than thoughts of the BS MS can bring.
I hope you get back to it soon
I’ve got 2 other projects in the works and 2 more quilt tops I need to quilt. Eventually...!
Starting Sept 1, I will start work on the bowls for the soup kitchen benefit. It's called Empty Bowls.
I have until Feb. to get that done. Talk about pressure! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This year's event was postponed due to covid but they found a way to do a drive thru....which should be interesting.
Bowl of soup+moving car+MS=adventure!
That should definately be interesting! Maybe they will put the soup in a container that fits in the bowl so you can take it home, reheat, and eat? Keep us updated as Sept 1 is almost here! Can't wait to see what you do this year!
You do such beautiful work! Can’t wait to see what you make!
Thanks! I had one year where they all came out bad.
I had trouble with the glaze and firing.
Fifty fugly bowls.
Say that 3 times fast!
Beautiful it's better to take it easy and do a good job than to rush and mess it up
Lately (last 6 months or so?) I lose interest in things that I have done and just don't want to do them anymore. I think about giving up, but either pressure on to get it finished or come back to it at a later time or date. There is stuff I want to get to around the house, and I think I will do it tomorrow after I get up and then by the time the next day is here I don't want to do it anymore
Soo Pretty!
Absolutely beautiful! and boy are you preaching to the choir, I have a guitar I have been working on for about 5 years still in pieces... hoping to somehow reanimate and get started again, also, a question for you... how do you post pictures here? ( I wanted to include a photo of the guitar, but couldn't figure out how. Best always Robert
I don’t think we can add pictures in responses, but start a new post. You see a button to add photos, so click on that to upload a photo.
Thank you I will try,Robert
Hi thanks again for help... Alas too curmudgeonly... still can't make it work, so it goes
I’ll try to remember to private message you and walk you through it.
Beautiful as always! You are very talentef...👍🌹
I understand completely.
For me if I don't see progress I will stop what I'm doing and move on.
As a child I would lose interest in things quickly so my mother made it a point to keep me active in thing that wasn't redundant. If I was still for too long I was in trouble. If I figured things out too quickly and I had to wait to move on to the next project I was going to get in trouble.
I guess that why I choose the career that I did because there was something new everyday
I like that piece. You do beautiful work. I get the wanting it to be done yesterday. Right now I have 3 in the works, all in different stages. I'm working on Christmas gifts. Just as I get one started I come up with an idea for another one. I've even been having crazy quilting dreams. I don't usually remember my dreams but when my leg woke me up in a cramp I guess I was in the middle of a dream climbing a step stool pasting strips I had sewn together on the bedroom wall. Have you ever quilted a wall before? ;-P
I also have a hard time finishing tasks I have started
Really nice👍 Would look great in my new house 😊 I like bright vivid car colors. Ken 🙏🙏😉
Beautiful. Love it
Congratulations for finishing that part of it!! Hire someone to quilt it
Are these “feelings” something new for you? If not then I wouldn’t be too concerned. It’s easy to become disinterested or “burned out” if you keep repeating a task, but if this is something new for you you could be depressed. Perhaps a visit to your doctor may be in order. I’m not a physician but I do know the
signs of Depression & what you are experiencing are some of the signs. Or not, but it won’t hurt to talk to your doctor.
It's really lovely. Maybe it does just need a little time for you to get the enthusiasm for the next stage but I am sure it will be fantastic when you have finished.🥰
You are certainly dedicated to what you do and good at it. Sometimes it is sensible to have a break from what you have been working on for some time - it is like having a holiday you will know when you are ready to go back to it. I have had your problem for some years and I have learned to live with it - I was never like that as I was always on the move but then I am getting older too so that may have something to do with it. An old friend of mine use to do Dump Embroidery it takes a lot of patience and many hours of work. Good Luck with what ever you do
Love the quilt. At first glance, thought there really were diamonds.
What happens to me is I find my brain Has to work much harder to do complicated tasks. I get brain fatigue and Then easily frustrated.
So do i i dont like nothing i use to. I use to read and dance now i do neither. I also use to go to church all tje time
Plus i love the quilt
This looks like a stained glass church window. It's truly lovely. While it is put aside for a bit, inspiration for the next phase will emerge. As your hands engage with other tasks, your creative mind will still be at work, eventually arriving at the best way to finish.
It is beautiful
Beautiful job! I do quilt, hand quilt. This is my "go to" get away from reality escape. There are tons of video's to help you quilt. But take your time, no hurry our talent will guide you. A good source is "Sewing with Nancy"; very informative lady who does not run through the process. I have learned a lot from her shows and video's (these are all older video's but you can find the on the web). Again, great job, your quilt top is beautiful.
I’ve been quilting for about 40 years. I used to do all hand quilting, but have a little arthritis in my quilting hand. I had the opportunity to buy a used long arm machine a few years ago, so I mostly do that or do free motion on my domestic machine for small projects. I usually have to think for a while about what quilting design I want to use for each quilt. Now with a little cognitive fatigue, it takes me a little longer than it used to. And I have to wait for arm weakness to pass.
I’ll get it quilted soon, however.
Sorry I did not realize you have been quilting so long. You truly are talented. I quilted as a child with my great grandmother, but hadn't quilted in almost 30 years. Then had to quit working, grand kids came and all that got me motivated. Now, like I said its my go to get away.
Looks like cathedral ornamentation. Beautiful
One friend used to state the best way to finish a large task by asking a question.
How do you eat an elephant? His answer was: one bite at a time.
It is beautiful and well worth the effort.
this is great ...i agree it is at times to want to not finish something for it is taking to long for something that was fast to make years ago but we aren't as young as we use to be is my way of looking at it ...we just have to laugh and go on and hopefully getting it done for whom you were making it for ...i don't sew as much as i did for i am like you said loose interest it or like the one i was looking on making is just not going the way i wanted it to go...it still sitting waiting for me to know how i want to finish it for it isn't going like i wanted it to look ...so funny never would of let it sit before but who is looking at the past ...hahahh.it is hard not to...we just go on find another object to do ...puzzles are great....have a great day and it is beautiful...could ask someone else to help to the quilting ...love it ...enjoy the beauty of it and to know you did it ...love and much happiness..laugh ,smile and know we enjoy your work ...
I do that, but it’s because I get frustrated with things that are a hassle. Most recently was my MS shirt 😬 That project is going to chill unless I get another bug up my butt.
Looks lovely!!
That's spectacular! It looks like glass prisms.
It is absolutly beautiful
Gorgeous, greaterexp You are constantly inspiring me in all that you do. Keep Smiling
