Activator Poles, worth it, or no?

Hi gang, my recent PT mentioned me getting Activator Poles. I already use my own hiking sticks from the past days of long hiking. Has anyone used these? What is your experience, and are they worth it? Be great if our greedy insurance companies would help on these life changing modalities, other than just paying $ to big Pharma

I have not tried these yet but they make sense.I would use a cane or stick but these would help keep better balance and you would not be leaning to one side as with a cane. I forgot about this option...

I haven't used anything like those before. I did pick up a fallen branch from one of the parks I went hiking in a few months ago to help me get back to my truck. I had pushed my luck way too far and got really fatigued in my efforts to get back. I took that branch home with me and stripped off the remaining bark. Sanded it down to remove splinters and stained it with left over stain from a book shelf. I've been decorating it with shells I've picked up from the various local beaches and parachute cord. I've started learning how to wood burn designs into it as well. It's not done being decorated yet, but I've been taking it with me ever since on hiking trips. Several people have commented on how much they like it. It hasn't cost me anything but time so far.

These probably have a number of structural advantages over my cane or walking stick: the number of holes allows an accurate adjustment for height of the user; the poles are lightweight yet strong. A disadvantage compared to the cane would be the difficulty of using these for anything except recreation (a walk or hike). When I take my cane with me to go shopping, it presents an awkward stowing situation; these would be even worse.
