Ampyra

Just got Ampyra today. Very hesitant to take it after reading the insert. Anyone have any experience with this drug?

I take it and I haven't had any problems. I've been on it for 2yrs

I tried it a couple of times and it just didn’t do anything for me. I was told that it works but the percentage of patients with considerable walking improvement is very low. The side effects for me out weighs the small chance of improving my gait and since there wasn’t any improvements I just stopped taking it. Good luck and I hope it works for you.

I take it and have had no problems. In fact, it seems to have the least side effects of my meds although I am careful to take it 12 hours apart.

I took it years ago, and it really, really helped me. I took it for 3 years and then realized it had simply stopped being effective. So I quit. But while it worked, it was fabulous! Kelly

I love it and couldn't function without it! But you have to remember to take it no more often than once every 11-12 hours (skip it if you missed a dose). I am sure your doctor checked before prescribing it that you have no history of seizures. Otherwise no side effects. I wish I had known years ago how safe and effective it actually is!
