I think 62 is the youngest you have to be to start social security without a disability.
As for heart disease with MS I have no idea. My dad was born with an enlarged heart but at the time the doctors didn't know that was a bad thing. Then he made the issue worse with his chain smoking. He didn't have MS though.
Hi jackiesj I'm so sorry your going through this. Have you called your social security office to see? Or your local socal services dept.to see what they can do to help? There is also things like Offices of the ageing ? That might be able to help you! Check with your church also.
I'm sorry you are going through this jackiesj Have you tried to call your local SS office for help or a local senior place/aging place? A friend's mom works for one of those and they help a lot of people with different things you would be surprised. Keep us updated when you can.
Doesn’t your inability to work qualify you for SSD, with or without DMT?
Before talking to the SS office, see if you can find a disability lawyer. Even if you decide not to use a lawyer you could get valuable insights out of a consultation. For instance, getting disability becomes easier after age 50 because, as I understand it, they factor in things like the difficulty of retraining for a new career.
When applying, you’ll also need the support of your doctors. Do you know, or have you discussed, how your MS neuro feels about your condition?
The lawyer I worked with told me I didn’t complain enough! I don’t like to dwell on the bad stuff and certainly don’t like it to be the focus of my social interactions. But the lawyer pointed out that it’s important to “complain” to your doctors, and definitely when applying for disability. Think about your worst days rather than how good you may be feeling today.
To get a lawyer cost money..and disability applied for over 13 yrs ago...thought fibro...ive been told that my income middle of line husband working and me not, thatit would be easier to claim a mental illness than go thru what you all have, physically now mentally I think ive had it.Im not getting out but seriously trying to get an interview. Will see new doc next month. Here it is for hope.Found out at 62 can apply and so will contact office.Thank you all...
Im sorry I was flat in bed to respond.I can sit up now, husband seeing how much I actually do, not sure on SocSec yet....just want to feel as bad(or good) as I felt before this.inner ear explosion feels close...I am grateful to all, ALL who have blessed my life in varying personalities...I have trouble handling this up and down stuff....went to cardiologist and heart sounds ok, checking it out, need to make sure im not bleeding because of meds...She admits its hard to tell a cardiac episode from an MS episode to an allergy episode...life is an episode?
