Alpha Lipoic Acid 300mg
Welcome to this community, it is best to ask your doctor, it really depends on the medications you take. Most everyone in this community have been dx with ms. Do a search using the link at the top of this page, search for both Lipoic Acid and Alpha Lipoici Acid. There have been a few posts about this supplement recently.
I agree with MS_Indestructible about checking with your doctor. One may need to start at a lower dose and then increase it. Many studies point to 1200 mg daily in divided doses as being therapeutic for maintaining cognitive levels and preventing brain shrinkage. But your neurologist needs to talk with you about your specific needs.
Welcome to our family.
Because I had nausea on 600mg I’m starting at 100mg and will slowly wean up
I tried it but it gave terrible heart burn.
I have been taking ALA for several months but at a very low dose. Yesterday I had a lot of mental fog so I took 400 mg of ALA a couple of times along with 1000 mg of turmeric. It seemed that the fog was better in the late afternoon. I plan to take the same dose 3 times today in hopes of clearing out the fog that has been present too much lately. I recently read a book about the damages of taking antibiotics like Cipro. That Dr. had problems himself, caused by the drugs and advocated taking turmeric and ALA and also magnesium to help alleviate some of the issues caused by the side effects of those drugs. Upon reading the recent article about a research on ALA use, they used 1200 mg daily, so the 600 mg should not be too much if it helps. I'm in with it! It's just an antioxidant.
Hi ladypa1959 ! Please check with your doctors. Each of us has different medication tolerances and needs. We aren't doctor's here and should not be advising you on medications. Your doctors will also be aware of what else you are taking and be able to advise you on any conflicts. We can only relate our experiences and we are all different.
