Greetings everyone!
I am curious to find out if anyone has tried taking 1200 mg of lipoic acid daily. I am reading a SPMS magazine about it.
Thanks for sharing your information everyone.

Yes. I started at a lower dose to overcome the initial abdominal discomfort. I quickly worked my way up to 600 mg twice a day without any problems.
That's great to know. Do you feel as though it's had a positive effect on you with your MS?
My MRIs do not show signs of atrophy, and I believe that’s the only objective measurement of its efficacy. I think I’ve been on it it for over 2 years, and at my last check with an MS specialist, I was given to understand that my case was not terribly active. I’ve had no relapses for three years. Can the possible decrease in inflammation be due to the ALA? I don’t know, but I’m willing to keep taking it!

I don't blame you at all for staying on it. I am reading that when taking it daily at 1200 mg slightly delays the decline in walking speed. I am going to be starting it, soon. I take Ampyra twice a day and notice I could use another dose midday, but obviously refrain.
don't know anything about it but surly there is someone that does...good luck but probably should talk to your doctor first before using ....
I have been taking it for several months now, as per the advice of my neurologist. I don't know if it's doing anything for me but it's not hurting me.
Yes. I take 600 mgs. twice a day. It has helps my fatigue and gives me the
nutrients my body needs with no side effects.
Best Wishes,
Leslie
I don’t, but I remember reading the study and appreciate all those trying things and talking about it! 🙌🏻
I also take Lipoic Acid because it was advised by my neurologist. He actually takes it himself as it supposedly helps protect the brain from the effects of aging as well some other neurological issues. I take 600 mg twice a day also.

Has taking ala caused you to have any loss of hair please
No not that I ever noticed, and I do pay attention to those things. Smelly urine is the only real side effect that I notice and that is apparently sufficient proof that you are taking enough. Best of luck to you; everyone is different as far as how we react and to me there’s no magic but I am responsible for for doing what I can and weighing benefits versus risks with everything. Hugs to you.
Thanks for replying are you taking it for diabetic nerve pain or another type of nerve pain mine being neuropathy in my neck and shoulder as it always seems from what I’ve read it helps diabetic neuropathy but not found anything about it helping my peripheral neuropathy keep safe
I take alpha lipoic acid because my dr told me it help protect brain from atrophy.
