Jackjosh A budget means careful shopping, and even with foodstamps/EBT it is possible to eat sustainably sourced, antibiotic/pesticide/herbicide free, organic foods (and don't forget, grow some of your own, even in pots and boxes). So don't despair. If you enjoy red meat (and many of us do), look for cheaper cuts, family packs that you can divide into smaller portions for freezing, and cook tougher types long and slow. I look for the "manager's specials", the meats that are at or just about at the "sell by" date, or those that have lost their bright red color...and sometimes find a nice steak or cut that I would NEVER buy otherwise, cook it appropriately, and get two or three servings from it. With a fixed income, I do need a food budget with few splurges or treats...but I don't feel deprived with my conservative, healthy diet choices.

They also say red meat is good for MS, depending on what diet youโ€™re eating. Iโ€™m not sure what you mean by the way you would want to eat, but Iโ€™d do a google search for whatever that is and see if there are YouTube videos or blogs on handling that on a budget.

Intermittent fasting goes with any diet and also saves money.
