Chest tightness hard to breathe

Has anyone else found it hard to catch a breath because of chest tightness? I've never had any trouble breathing before except when I go out in the freezing weather up north. Then it's like I feel a cold halt in my breath but now I've been having trouble even in the heat.

My doc has had to give me breathing treatments and ventolin rescue inhaler throughout the day and Breo steroid inhaler once a day.

I still have trouble breathing. Could it be because of MS ? I don't smoke, never have and am being treated for asthma now. No one smokes in my house or around me.

Do think it could be your heart? Sometimes I people say they would have problems breathing.

The heart checked out as strong by cardiologist only a week before. Yes, congestive heart failure is one of my diagnoses so I thought it was my heart but the ER doc hooked me up to get ECG/EKG and it looked fine. The inhaler doesn't really open my chest up to breathe but it's all I have to treat the tightness.

If it is the MS hug then do steroids help relieve it or how have you treated it? I'd love to wake up without it tightening my chest.

Could you tell me how you treated your MS hug that lasted over a week?

Get to your doctor and let him/her know and get it checked. Let us know how you get on. Blessings Jimeka 🦋

Hello Hidden it could be so many things.

So please talk to your Drs asap!

It might be an MS Hug? I have had only 3 and they are the worst! You could bring that up to them?

Thanks for sharing your experience with the MS hug. That's really what I was looking for. It looks like the MS hug is not long lived. Perhaps this too shall pass

The Hug, can be scary that's for sure. I get it in the extreme cold. My whole body feels like it's gonna stay that way, and you know you can breathe, but your scared to.? Just try to breathe through it, and relax, and log it! That's what MY neuro said anyway.☺️

But CALL THEM!!! As it could be anything Hidden !!

Do you use any muscle relaxers, such as Baclofen? They can sometimes be helpful in reducing the muscle spasms of the hug.

Thanks I don't yet use muscle relaxers but will ask doc if I can try.

Thank you for sharing about the MS hug from your experience

Aloha, it's Fancy1959. Chest tightness could be so many different things keep working with your doctor until you find out exactly what it is. You never want to mess with your breathing as it is one of the three primary functions that your body needs to do to survive. Good luck and let us know what you find out! Remember together we are stronger! Fancy.

Hi Aloha

I was going through this site because I'm having trouble taking a deep breath and it seems like I need to take one all the time. I saw your post and was wondering if you ever got a diagnosis and how you were doing. Please let me know how you are.

Thanks, Marilyn
