I went for colonoscopy today because GI doctor wanted to make sure there wasn’t any obstructions causing my increase in constipation. He thought it was the MS causing the issue but wanted to make sure. I went through the nasty prep yesterday and this morning for the procedure. After the procedure he tells me he couldn’t complete the exam because the colon has lost some of its muscular definition and he only examine about 50% of the colon (with no problems noted). He want me to consult with my neurologist and go for an X-ray with Barium (😝😝😂) to examine the total colon. Then he want me to do colonoscopy in 5 years 😢😝😂😝

In 5 years? That’s a long time, so I wouldn’t be concerned so what he could see must be healthy. Keep us updated and I empathise with what you went through with yesterday’s prep, not nice 👎🚽

I’m sorry the exam couldn’t be complete, but I’m glad you’re done with it for now. The joys of aging and MS!

Royjr Thank you for sharing. Anyone who has experienced colonoscopies knows what prep entails. Yet another way MS afflicts us. So now we have to think about exercising our colons???? I don't believe I can eat more fiber than I already consume...

Royjr I feel for you I had to do that myself few yrs back, they found NOTHING, & want me to repeat the whole experience again. The reason he gave is because my age I was in my later 50s then. Done 3 of them now they did find a polyp once. My next 1 is 2 yrs fromnow 2020.

I've done 2 colonoscopies now. I have family history of colon cancer so had to start the screening early. The first time I did the nasty prep drink I ended up vomiting over half of it. They gave me a different nasty tasting drink and I was able to keep that one down. Both showed normal but they did discover something interesting during the first procedure. My colon is 18 inches longer than average. In 5 years I get to do it all over again...can't say that I'm looking forward to it.😣😩😧

I know “right”. I’m not looking forward to it also. With the advances in the medical field, why don’t they find a better way to clean your system out so it can be examined 🙂

Yay for 5 years then? I’ve not had one, but I’ve prepped plenty and it’s like giving them cups of a stomach virus 😵 drink up now!

Terribly sorry, Royjr, but I'm sure the girls on this forum will agree with me: medical technology first needs to find a better way to look for breast cancer! Having to go and get the girls squished between two metal plates until I want to scream in a much more pressing (no pun intended) issue!

I agree with that 100%. I think we as men could never go through the things that women do (obgyn exam, mammogram etc..)

See Royjr this is why I have managed to get away without doing any!☺️ 😞 I am the world's best procrastinator!

I'm glad you got it done tho!
