Does anyone have loss of bowel control? I know this is embarrassing. Hell, I can't believe I am even asking this. So, if you just want to private message me thats totally cool. I just need some help in this matter.

Thanks guys!!!!!

I’m so sorry! Pass on the shame. It would be different if you were doing it on purpose. I believe @scooterjohn58 has recently encountered this also, and he has a blog if you wanted to look him up.

33 years old and wearing adult briefs. Almost two accidents daily. Good luck

Yes, I have experienced bowel accidents too. I stay close to bathrooms and wear a depends on occasion. I try to manage these accidents with my diet with some success. I consulted a gastroenerologist but he was not much help. Not fun...!

I think it is common among MSers. Never trust a fart!

I try to stick to a routine, but that does not always work out. Carry extra pads, underwear and cleaning cloths in a zip lock bag my purse at all times just in case. Right now accidents don’t happen often to wear depends, but often enough to be

Prepared. At first inkling of possible BM. I head to the bathroom.

For what it is worth, I have a friend who does not have MS but does have this problem. So guess it is not just an MS thing

Sorry...I have the opposite issue and have gotten relief from a new med called Trulance. But I used to have fecal incontinence occasionally during a run. Now I'd gladly deal with that if I could run again...🙁

Does adjusting your diet or timed toileting, 10min after eating, to take advantage of the gastro-colic reflex help?

Rlh1974, never be embarrassed about asking a question pertaining to MS. The way MS attacks our central nervous system we have no more control over many of our bodily functions then we control the rain falling from a storm cloud. Yes I do from time to time have loss of bowel control. A typically what I truly experience though is that I get a very short notice that my bowels need to be emptied. If I'm not within 10 seconds of a bathroom sometimes it's too late. I have taken to wearing depends full time to stop accidents from happening. I wish I would have taken out stock in the company when I was first diagnosed because by now I would be a millionaire! Make sure you talk to your neurologist perhaps you should even get a specialist involved like a urologist and see if they can't help you to gain better control of your bowels. There are drugs out there that will help to tranq the bladder and bowels and make their urges less demanding and less urgent. I hope this helps. Again why be embarrassed by something we have no control over. But because of this chat room we are blessed with this knowledge because the general public would never understand what we go through on a daily basis. Take care and remember together we are stronger! Fancy.
