Cooling neck wraps

I've been making tons of these for family who have to be out in the heat. They have water-absorbing crystals in them and are easy to make. I've heard people say they help keep them cool for a few hours. They could be used alone or with your other cooling vests, etc. My son-in-law loves them!

Here's a link if you can sew:

If you don't sew, I'm happy to make some for you, but be patient; I'm going on a real vacation soon!

Thank you. My hubby lived there as a child and has always wanted to show it to me. I’m a little nervous about the boat travel, but I’m sure it will be worth it!

if that is on a cruise ship, it should be real nice. I had some friends who took the Alaska cruise and did it 3 times they liked it so much. Either way it is a very beautiful place to visit.

Thanks for sharing. I remember walking outside one day in the

heat and coming home and couldn't get cool., This would be perfect for me.

I would certainly pay for the postage.

That is great for your offer and link. I just bought two on amazon and a cooling towel. They do help a lot, especially with a cooling vest 👍🙏🐾😉. Ken

I’m so glad they work for you!

if you haven't received the cooling vest from MSAA, you should apply. They are of very good quality and they send you two times the packs so you can be wearing one and have one in the freezer.

says the one who sews all the time ;) . I don't like needles and every time I'm near one I get stuck. LOL

I went to an air show, was 103f on the airstrip. Wore cooling vest, neck wrap, umbrella ☂, and cold water. Was a great day and could not have done this without these items. They are a wonderful ideas 👍. 🙏🐾😉 Ken

Thanks for sharing this greaterexp ! I've wanted to make some because I use these all the time in the heat. The ones I have I bought years ago and the lightweight fabric is wearing out. I sew and these look simple.

I'm also trying to plan a trip to Alaska. I'm going to visit a good friend that lives there and explore some of the things I didn't get to see when I was there a few years ago.

Alaska? I think our Jes used to live there. I hope that you have a great time. You certainly are gifted and thank you for sharing. Unfortunately my hand won’t hold a needle anymore so I buy from amazon. Any news on your daughter? Blessings Jimeka 🦋 🍫 🦔 🤗

Thank you for asking. Her numbness is spreading rapidly, but she won’t see the specialist until August 8. I’m sure he’ll order many more tests, so she will still have to wait for a diagnosis. Her neurologist suspects Charcot Marie Tooth at this point.

MS_Indestructible profile image
MS_Indestructible in reply to greaterexp

that's how my dx of ms came about. I had numbness the started in my big toe on one foot and spread rapidly up my legs. It really freaked my doctors out, so i would' wait too long. the less she works the slower it will spread, at least that is how mine went.

greaterexp profile image
greaterexp in reply to MS_Indestructible

Her numbness started as a patch on one knee. She ignored it for nearly 5 years, but when I found out, I begged her to get seen immediately. By then, she had more numb places on her legs and recently experienced Lhermitte’s sign, which worries me, too. I understand the thinking about Charcot Marie Tooth with the demyelination of peripheral nerves, but still wonder about MS.

I can use the sewing machine completely for these, and that sure makes it easier!

Thanks for the well wishes for the trip. I’d rather that folks give me feedback about the wraps than pay for anything. I’m so glad to use up some of my fabric stash, so just pay it forward to bless someone you can help someday.

This is...ahem...Cool! I see a trip to the craft store coming up in the extreme near future. I have some cooling neck wraps that one of the drug companies were giving away at an MS walk. I've been using them on hiking trips but they're a little on the thin side. Now I know how to make my own and will make some a little wider. Thanks for the link.😊

greaterexp profile image
greaterexp in reply to Peruzzot

I would use the full width of fabric for the length, too!

I am so sorry about Erika, who else in the family has it, as I thought CMT was a genetical disease. I hope and pray that all goes well on the 8th. 🙏

greaterexp profile image
greaterexp in reply to jimeka

No one else that we know of. She did show demyelination of the peripheral nerves of both arms and legs. But since she has a strong history of migraine and IBS, I do worry about it also being MS.

I recommend using WOF ( width of fabric) for the length, by the way.

First of all, have a wonderful, well deserved vacation! These are a great idea. I actually have one from my cycling days and had never given it a thought! Can't wait to get it out, perhaps dig out some fabric and get busy. Will have to find out where to buy the crystals locally.. Excited to have a project. Can't wait to make for the grandkids to wear as we've had temps over 100 for about 10 days. Fortunately, some cooler days ahead, but only because our area of California is cover by smoke by so many forest fires burning all over. Bad air quality all over except on the coast.
