First dose of ampyra this am and feel terrible! Dizzy and light headed. Anyone have this happen?

judymax This was my reaction within 30 minutes of the first dose. I was too dizzy to stand and my balance problems made moving about difficult. The reaction lasted for about 30 hours. My neuro said stop taking it and the drug company called it an adverse effect. I assume the reaction was due to my age (76 at the time) since older people metabolize drugs differently than populations tested in clinical trials.

Judymax, I didn’t experience any of this. I couldn't tell any effect of the Ampyra at all. My age when starting Ampyra: about 40.

Judy, it's Fancy1959. I have never been on Amprya no I am unable to help with your question. Sorry but I didn't want you to think I was simply ignoring you. Good luck with finding out information. Make sure you keep a log of your symptoms in if they continue and get worse getting to see your neurologist and go over them with him or her. Fancy.

I took one dose of Ampyra and it was a horrible experience....put me right into the worst relapse I've ever had. Neuro said I was one of 2% that have adverse effects. So three days of intravenous steroids to get me back on my feet!
