After several months of dealing with my insurance, I was initially approved for Ocrevus but then asked my doctor to see if he could get Rituxamab approved because of my concerns with Ocrevus...I was denied and when I when I tried to revert back to Ocrevus, I was denied. My neuro has now recommended Gilenya which I start on Friday. I have not seen much on this forum about this drug and was interested in any input from others on their experience. As with all the other meds, I am concerned about the side effects but need to make a change. Unfortunately Copaxone does not seem to be working.
Thanks!

Everyone has different experiences and issues with certain disease modifying therapies. My reply would be this: everyone of these meds have side effects, monitoring them is very important and we know our bodies best if something doesn’t seem right get it checked out.
Thanks Mwieand. I appreciate the comment and agree that we need to be vigilant about being in tune with our bodies and alert to changes that we know are unusual and need to be further investigated. Thank you!
I had been on Gilenya for several years before switching to Occrevus. I tolerated it very well and had no side effects. When they give you the first dose plan on staying at your doctors office for several hours because they have to monitor your blood pressure.
Thanks Tina! That’s good to hear. I started a week ago this past Friday and spent about seven hours at the Stanford infusion center before getting released. I haven’t noticed any side effects since taking it this past week. Now I just hope it helps with some of the issues I have been dealing with and I am not missing the Copaxone shots
