Mylan Glatiramer Acetate

Hi everyone! This is my first post and just in time too. I’m starting Mylan’s Glatiramer Acetate 3x a week shots and want to know if they have an autoject pen for the syringes? I just got the Rx and I was given the Glatopa pen by accident. Glatopa and Glatiramer Acetate are from two different manufacturers. I didn’t even know this until I called GlatopaCare and the nurse I was talking with caught it. The website is down and the call volume is high but I will try again tomorrow. Luckily I still have the Glatopa for another two weeks. Dx was in 2009 but had no insurance until 2013 and have been on Copaxone 20mg, 40mg, Glatopa, and soon to be Glatiramer Acetate since. Thanks in advance.

Just found the website by searching Glatiramer Acetate instead. And yes there is an autoject pen - Whisperject. 🙄 I hope that it’s more of a featherject.

Glatiramer Acetate is the generic version of Copaxone 40mg 3x a week injection. I guess it’s called by it’s chemical name because they ran out of nifty names and this was the only one left. 🤡

all generics go by their chemical names. that is one of the ways of knowing what are generics and which are not ~terry

I have followed your medication regimen. (Copaxone 20,40, then Glatopa 20). I had numerous problems with the Glatopa auto injector and learned to self inject. I find I have much better control and now prefer it. I have been on shots for ten years. Good Luck.

Oh yeah boy do I know those problems! The plunger going down really, really slowly - like in slow motion. I called GlatopaCare and I had to send two of the pens back to Sandoz. The auto injector pen actually has an expiration date on it. When I called them about it the nurse gave me some explanation about using the pen after the expiration date but only for a month or so. I would think that most pharmacies aren’t aware of this. I’m too squeamish to inject without the pen shielding the needle. I’ll post any of my observations with the Glatiramer. I’m just happy to not be a human pincushion for now.

same here, I don't like needles so I am happy to go in for infusions every 6 months [for Rituxan therapy].

I see that you've already been on injectables. Have you tried it without the Autoject? I was afraid to until I had a home visit w/ a nurse. I didn't think I could do it, but was AMAZED at how much less it hurt. I'll never use an Autoject again. Everyone is different though. I hope you get the info you need.
