I am on Betaseron injections every other day. I do alright with them with the exception of itchy welts. Any ideas for dealing with them?

Itchy Welts After Injections
Does your doctor know about the local reactions? We’re you given clear instructions about how to inject?
I inject Copaxone three times a week. What has helped me most to limit reactions is by applying an ice pack immediately after the injection for about 1 -2 minutes, and applying a cortisone cream immediately after removing the ice pack.
It may be wise to check with your doctor to find the best solution for your situation.
Hi MrsDenny17 I don' think I've had the pleasure, welcome. 😊
I'm with greaterexp on this one. As I do the same thing as she does with my Copaxone injection.
I hope this helps some, if not call them for help😁 * and let your Neuro know*

MrsDenny17 Does your neuro know about this reaction? When I was on Copaxone, like greaterexp I applied a ice pack/gel pack after to help with any swelling/itching after which it greatly helped with. You may also want to check with Biogen, the company that makes Betaseron they may also have some tips for you as well besides your neuro's office).
Please keep us updated,
Jessie
Hope you’re not developing an allergy to it! Best to let your doc and the company making the med know!
I used to do the Copaxone injections and got bad reactions. Ends up I was having an allergic reaction and was changed to Aubagio. Glad of that since I hated "shooting" myself!
MrsDenny17, it's Fancy1959. Keep a record of your local reactions and make sure you document somehow it's a become worse if they start to improve. In the meantime please call your neurologist and advise them of the severe rash you get from the injections. If you read all the material that came with your new therapy? Make sure you follow the directions exactly as listed your flyer. Ice will help also and there are numerous products you can buy in the bath aisle to calm down allergic reactions in your skin by putting it in the bathtub. One that pops into my head is oatmeal. I would make a paste out of the product and apply the paste correctly all over top of the reaction site to see if it helps.
A solution I came up it's accidentally was to use prescription strength hemorrhoid cream for bee stings, etc. Get your doctor to write you a prescription of full strength hemorrhoid cream, not the stuff you get over the counter. I keep it in the house now and no matter what sting you get, be it a wasp or hornet, Etc. a dob of this cream does wonders. It takes all the heat, redness, itching, and swelling out of it within minutes.
I hope our suggestions help to soothe your reaction sites. Please remember these are just suggestions and we are not doctors so get in to see your doctor as soon as possible. Sometimes allergies can start out mild and if not watched or kept keep an eye on, can lead to the allergies getting much much worse. So please be careful and take care of until you speak again. Fancy.
